What are some other saisons in this style? Most saisons that I try are slightly off from what I want, this was the first one to really hit the mark for me, and one of the things I loved most about it was the crisp dryness. I know Crooked Stave is considered an exceptional brewery so I don't expect a big list of easy to find beers that are equal in quality, but I'd like to try some other beers with this general flavor profile. Thanks!

Actually made a thread like this a while back that didn't yield too many results.

Sofie was a good suggestion, I actually had Arthur the other night and loved that as well.

thanks, I actually remember that thread now, I hadn't had Surette at the time. I do love Sofie, I would have said it was the best saison that I have had until I had Surette. Even Sofie though is just a tad too "sweet" (or not dry enough) for what I really want. I do like the Jolly Pumpkin beers too, unfortunately I have to go into DC to get them, but its not too far.

    Have you had Saison Dupont?

ETA: Maybe Brooklyn Sorachi Ace as well.

Almost a year ago I posted this to my Instagram, it was my New Years beer haha. Anyways, I remember it being fairly dry if you want to give it a shot.

I've had Dupont but I can't really remember what it tastes like, I'll try it again. I love Sorachi Ace, its an excellent beer, but not really what I have in mind here. I'm looking for beers that start to border on sour territory, although I know blond sours are really a style on their own so I'm not looking for suggestions there. Almost sour.

I've never seen this but if I do I'll try it, thanks.

Don't know if this will help, depending on your thoughts on Brett, but Boulevard's Saison Brett is insanely dry.

You are describing saisons that have more than just a traditional saison yeast in them. They have Brett in them as well. Crooked Stave is almost all brett, which will yield a dry beer, much like you mention enjoying Jolly Pumpkin stuff, which is brett as well.

In some cases, the tartness could be a sour mash/wort, or it could include some lacto when pitched.

Look for Saison Brett from Boulevard. It's a dry tasting saison.

This may be frowned upon but have you contemplated cider? I've had some ciders that are dry like a good champagne but have some wild attributes based on how some are made, like virtue.

I have had some great ciders but that a rabbit hole I don't want to go down at the moment.

I always throw out Funkwerks Saison as an example of what OP is looking for, but I'm not sure (kinda doubt) it's available in VA except via trade. If you findf yourself in Colorado, don't miss it. 4 packs of 11.2 oz bottles for about $11-12...

So I just picked up a Sorachi Ace for the first time in a long while, it is more dry and just as delicious as I remember, this is in the same ballpark as what I'm looking for, so great suggestion!

I also found a bottle of 2014 Boulevard Saison Brett, does anyone know how old this beer is? Is it ready to drink now?

There's no Brett-infused saison that's at Surrette's level but I wish you luck in your trevails.

    I second...or third...the Boulevard mentions
Aspen Brewing has a nice dry saison as well
