So im in the process of Building my first keezer/fermentation chamber and i am looking for a good temp controller. Since im currently living in Germany I need one that is rated up to 220v. But I also want to be able to use it once I'm back in the states so it needs to have a range of 110-240v. So if any of you awesome home brewers here has any info on this it would help me a lot. Thanks

Not sure if any of the Johnson or Ranco versions will go either way (never used them or researched them), but you can build an STC1000 unit for $30-$40 using the 220V version now, and buy a 110V version as well for later, only $20. Once you move back to the states just take the screws out of the project box, pop the orange tabs off, unhook the wires, swap the control unit to the 110V and rewire, orange tabs, put the lid back on, ready to go. $50-$60 is still a lot less than the $100+ you will drop on a Ranco or Johnson single stage digital controller, and the STC1000 is dual-stage.

My Rancos (111000) are dual voltage (110-240) and I have been pleased. The single stage version is available on Amazon and eBay for under 50 bucks if you wire the plug. Just to be sure, a single stage controller will control either hot or cold (fridge or heating element) . . . just not both at the same time.

It should be fun teaching the Germans how to brew  . . . what's your base?

That sounds awesome. Is there someplace I can find build instructions with a list of all the parts I'll need to put it all together?

Thanks I'll take a look on amazon for one. And I'm stationed at Spangdahlem AB. And from what I've seen so far Germans are more interested in drinking my home brew than to help brew it. Still looking for some sort of home brew club near me I can join.
