I was recently rearranging my cellar and noticed that one of my bottles of DDG looked slightly darker than the other. After studying the bottle for a moment I saw that the markings on the very bottom of the glass itself were different as well. Just curious if those with bottles of DDG can ease my concerns and let me know what is on the bottom of your bottles. Here are the markings I see on the bottom: Lighter Bottle (yellow-ish when shining a light through the neck) - "W 3 12 .75L" Darker Bottle (more of an orange hue when shining a light through) - "750 ml 25" I'm assuming its possible that when filling 7200 bottles they went from one batch to another that was a slight different color but to state the obvious ... doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy without knowing this for sure. Appreciate everyone's observation and digging into your cellar to check.
my '13 bottles refer to the .75 but you do realize that's just a bottle and does not guarantee it's contents. beer should be clear through the bottle when held up to the light.
I understand completely that the only way to be sure is to pop em open ... which will occur at some point a year or two from now... just curious if there were a way to at least settle my mind until that time by having others chime in with info from both bottles. Ohh and both contents look very similar in that they are hazy ... I was referring to shining a light through the neck where no liquid was.
Funny thing. My second bottle gave lat/long coordinates to Jimmy Hoffa's final resting place. It's a pizza joint in Hoboken. Jimmy says 'Hi.'
I'm assuming that you're referring to the 2013 release? I only say that since the original release started off a hazy light yellow and has darkened substantially over the past few years. If the 2013, I'm assuming that Lost Abbey simply used different bottles and that the beer is the same. But, curious as to what others say.....
Thanks to Gwen at Lost Abbey for the following response: "We bottled Duck Duck over a 3 day period and we did use two different colors of glass. We did not do this intentionally, it just happened that we were changing glass suppliers during that time period." Consider this closed.
