My wife has a conference in DC at the end of this month (Alexandria) and I'm tagging along. Was wondering if anyone who's familiar with the area could tell me what kind of offereings Duck-Rabbit would have in that area. Was hoping for more of the Porter and Brown Ale or one of the seasonals. Also I've checked beerfly but any additional recommendations for anything else from anybody would be absolutely welcome as well. Thanks in advance!
Their regulars are all available in norther Virginia. Porter Milk stout Total Wine would be her easiest bet
Thanks for the info, I'd love to goto a Total Wine, but I won't have a car so it'll have to be something around Old Town. Sorry probably should have specified this in the beginning.
They have pretty good public transportation in the area and there's a station in Alexandria that will take you into DC proper. I'm not sure where else in VA it will take you, but you can obviously look it up. I was just in Old Town a few weeks ago and my research didn't bear any decent beer stores there, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's something not too far from a Metro stop. If you can, definitely check out Churchkey. I've been to a ton of great bars and it's one of the best, if not the best. So many interesting beers on tap and they actually serve them at proper temps.
Whole Foods P Street regularly carries Duck Rabbit, also they have a few packs of Hoppy Bunny currently although not much.
If you're in Alexandria you can take a bus to old town and go to the whole foods in duke street, they'll have plenty of duck rabbit anything there. The total wine in Alexandria is accessible by bus as well. If you're not gonna have a car those are your only options really. Rick's wine and gourmet is about half way between the whole foods and total wine in Alexandria, also accessible by bus. I hope this helps, good luck. Unless you want to set up an in person trade with something from your end of the woods that's going to be your best bet
Pizzeria Paradiso has a location in Old Town if you want a place to drink. Rustico has a location that isn't far either, but I don't think there's a metro stop near it.
Unfortunately, we are currently out of all things Duck Rabbit at Ricks and wouldn't be getting anything new in until next week at the earliest. Chris
Don't know why I didn't think of Whole Foods but that would be your best bet for the area if you're looking for walking distance.
Cool, well thanks everyone. My wife stayed at the same hotel last year and said that the Whole Foods is walking distance so that'll be a must stop at the very least. I'll see what I can find in a couple weeks!
I've frequently seen the Duck Rabbit Milk Stout at Connecticut Ave Liquors in downtown DC. Hope that helps.
Just an echo of what everyone else is saying, I regularly see Duck Rabbit around here. I'm deep in the District, not in Virginia, but I would imagine they have it in the Alexandria are too. If she does make it into the District, I highly recommend 1 West Dupont Circle Wine & Liquor. It has the best beer selection I've seen in the area (where an average store has 3 or so products from a single craft brewery, this place would have 5 or 6). and they are very friendly and helpful.
