I don't mean to cast more ire on Duck-Rabbit, but I'm curious if anyone's had a chance to try the newly-released Schwarzbier yet. Like the Baltic Porter and Rabid Duck, it's one of my favorite seasonals -- but I don't want to buy it if it's as infected as those two were.

Again, not trying to bash Duck-Rabbit here, just wanting to see if anyone's had this yet before I make the purchase.

Thanks, DMBharold. I'll go ahead and grab at least one six-pack.

Drink 5 and save 1 for a few months from now. I had fresh Hoppy Bunny and it was great but recent reports that the nasty "I" word has affected those as well.

If it's newly-released then I'm sure it's fine.... He wouldn't release it if it was already tasting sour. That doesn't mean it'll taste fine in a couple months though, much like Hoppy Bunny was fine upon release, but is now showing signs of infecion.

That was my thought as well, but Rabid Duck and Baltic Porter struck me as sour as soon as they were released.

I had it on draft last week and their were definitely some light cherry/sour notes.

As far as I know, their infections have been limited to only their bottled beer.

Came up in another thread that a bar manager/tender had to send back some kegs because of QC issues. I'm going to pass on DR for the foreseeable future because I have yet to get a response from Paul to an email I sent in regards to infected barleywine.

Dropped 10 bucks for a sixer of this last night. I was very cautious because the baltic porter and milk stout that I have bought this year were both infected. First bottle was definitely infected and i am very upset. Do they refund at all for infected beer?

I think if you go to the brewery itself, they do something.

man this sucks...I also picked up a six pack of the schwartz yesterday and then put it back because I didnt want to roll the dice on it being infected..I had it on draft a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it but cant throw ten bucks away when I know my standby (Founders Porter) will not disappoint...

Still haven't picked up my six-pack, though now I'm even more hesitant to do so. Maybe I'll wait to see what others say.

DR is definitely on my avoid list. and probably will be for quite awhile.

I had two sixers of Rabid Duck swapped out for two of Doppelbock. Those aren't my favorites, but at least they aren't infected. If you are in NC and can meet someone, you might be able to arrange an exchange and get beer. If there's shipping involved, it seems like swag only (for legal reasons).

I had dinner with a guy from out of town who is going to stop at Sam's before he leaves, and, sadly, I couldn't recommend DR in good conscience after all of this.
