My parents recently made a stop at DuClaw brewery and returned with a lot of beers. They are Sweet Baby Jesus, Euphoria Toffee Brown Ale, Hellrazer IPA, Funk (blueberry citrus wheat), Bare Ass Blonde All, & Venom Pale Ale.

I've had the SBJ Before, but none of the others. I won't be home for a few weeks so I have to wait to try these.

Has anyone tried any of the aforementioned before and what was your opinions??

Have you tried looking up the reviews for these beers on BA? By and large, I know I'm in agreement with the average BA scores for most of their beers. The only real standouts I've had from Duclaw were H.E.R.O. and the jack daniel's aged Devil's Milk. Sweet Baby Jesus is one of their better efforts as well, IMHO. I haven't had the funk, but have had all the other beers your parents got you. I would rate most of them as average or slightly above average for the style.

I remember being pleasantly surprised by the Euphoria when I had it...

A bunch of my friends like Euphoria, I think its pretty average. Funk is one of my favorite everyday beers.

I've never been wow'd by anything at DuClaw. I live about 10 mins away and as much as I love beer, I can't be bothered to go in there. When I do, it's pretty empty if that is any indication of their beers.

The best I've had from them was Dark Side of Oz which is a Black IPA variant of their regular Oz. It was a shame that when I asked what was available, this wasn't even offered to me. I overheard another bartender talking about it to other guests after I had been there quite some time. Another reason I'm not spending much time there.

Out of your list, SBJ is probably going to be the best of the group. The rest are pretty average.

Sweet Baby Jesus is probably their best seller (at least where I work), and is a pretty good porter. I've had Hellrazer and while it was a decent beer, probably wouldn't purchase it again. I also believe I tried Venom and one other at their BWI pub, but honestly don't remember how they were. Overall, I've never had anything that I flat out didn't like from DuClaw, but none of their beers have really blown me away either.

I've had sweet baby Jesus before from a local bar owner who gave me a free one he grabbed while on a tour of the DuClaw brewery. I really enjoyed it and it was out of luck that my parents were in that area and decided to stop it. Since they're new to craft beers like me, they were wowed with the place and ended up purchasing all six of the beers I mentioned above.

I'm a big fan of the chocolate & coffee beers.
Any suggestions on what to have. Founders Breakfast Stout is my favorite beer I've had.

@AricGresko Terrapin Wake 'n' Bake is on par (or better, in my opinion) than FBS for coffee notes

I've heard just as many people who absolutely hated Sweet Baby Jesus as who loved it. It seems like it's one of those beers.

DuClaw's Retribution is a really solid Bourbon aged Stout. If I see one again, I'd grab it immediately.

Just picked up a bottle of the Cocoa Fuego. Will crack it open tonight. Also have a bottle of Euphoria in the queue

Wasn't very impressed with Sweet Baby Jesus when I had it on tap.

Just wrote a quick review of it... surprised how few ratings there are for a beer that released in 2012 (I think 2012). I think I may have put up the first written review.

    It's pretty widely available, right?

On its page it says that it was just added on the 7th. They only announced it in January. I see where it says they, "first brewed it in 2012", but I assume they are referring to the 2012 H.E.R.O. Chocolate Chipotle Stout. So, basically they are turning the winner of their homebrew contest into a seasonal.

I've had the FBS one time and I thought it was absolutely great. I keep seeing about half of people saying WnB is better than FBS and half saying FBS is better than WnB. So I'm assuming both are excellent beers. Is there anywhere FBS or WnB can be purchased in the Pittsburgh-ish area?

Yeah, you're really splitting hairs with the two- both excellent beers, can't go wrong! Can't help you out with locations out there, I'm on the other side of the state haha

I need them both then! Haha. The local craft beer bar I go had FBS one time but it became so popular they tapped out so quick and haven't had it since... I'm heartbroken haha.
