DuClaw Brewing, worth going to?

    I saw an article a month or so back that was called 'The Best Craft Brewery in Every State'. Now usually these articles are so far off from what the states really have to offer, but this one had some great answers. Hill Farmstead for VT, Treehouse for Mass (with mentioning trillium as a close 2nd) Maine Beer Co, etc.. All excellent choices.

    I'm going to Maryland (from Upstate NY) this weekend for a couple concerts and I saw the list had DuClaw as Maryland's number 1. Fortunately its only 20 minutes from the concert venue, so what do you think? Worth going to?

    Anything else near Columbia, Maryland to check out? Or anything on the way that'd be worth picking up

    DuClaw is solid and has better name recognition than a lot of breweries in MD, but too be honest none of their beers blow me away. If I were you, I would visit Jailbreak in Laurel, MD. It's only about 15-20 minutes from Columbia and has been around for almost two years. It's starting to gain more notoriety around here and the taproom is phenomenal. My favorite beers by them at the moment are Big Punisher (Double IPA), Van Damnit (Belgian dark strong ale), and Welcome to Scoville (Jalapeno IPA). http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/34426/?view=ratings

    So I would absolutely recommend going to Jailbreak...Heavy Seas is another local brewery that has some real solid brews. Do DuClaw if you have time, but not a major miss if you don't.

    if you're going for phish, skip duclaw. check out heavy seas. better beer better place. you also might like brewers art

    I've never been to the brewery but I do enjoy me some sweet baby jesus. I'd make the trip that way you can report back to us and let us know what YOU thought.

    I'm pretty sure if he is coming to town for two concerts this weekends, you nailed it...

    I'll be there Sunday night. First show for me, ha.

    Yeah you got it, coming down for phish. Thanks for the feedback..might try checking out DuClaw, heavy seas and/or jailbreak..something tells me I've heard really good things about jailbreak..heavy seas is available in NY so that one I may or may not pass on

    while in columbia, check out victorias gastro pub, the alehouse columbia, and/or frisco grille. all outstanding selections of beer!
