Got together with a couple people recently and was luckily able to taste all of these together. Cocoa & Cocoa Vanilla were growlers. Have to say I enjoyed Cocoa Vanilla the most. Divine #2 was also good a lot better than Divine #1, though there is still no way I could have drank a full bomber by myself.

The price however, in my opinion for these Retribution variantes is getting a little high. Does the extra ingredients/ barreling really justify a $12+ premium over regular Retribution.

I completely agree. I love that they are branching out and trying some different stuff with their beers, but not at that price. I bought Divine for $22. Who quoted you the price for coco and vanilla coco BMart?

I'm not sure the variants do justify the price hike, but I'm going to punish my liver/wallet/self this weekend finding out! And if they're 24.99 each, I wonder what Perfect Pour is charging. Probably $30 or somethig...

For the Batch 1 Divine, PP was charging $55. Who knows for these.

Yeah I know :slight_frown: At only 168 bottles I couldn't resist buying some. I have a love/hate relationship with PP. As in - I love going there and I hate myself after leaving there. If it wasn't so close to me I'd probably avoid it altogether.

Yea I am right there with you. I couldn't pull the trigger for batch 1 Divine. I will definitely have to look for coco and vanilla coco though. Hopefully Cindy's gets some in. They have a good selection, good prices, and great "beer guys" who work there. Hopefully they will get them. I'll post here if I see them anywhere.

Divine #2 has been out end of December. Way larger run than the Divine #1. ISO for the Coco & Vanilla, yum

Good to know, don't think my store will bring them in - especially if we'll be selling them at 25.99

Yeah Divine #2 has been sitting at some of the stores by me. Seen it for $26 and $28 and believe that to be why it is sitting as people may not be willing to take the gamble.

Either way, I do recommend trying them all. In comparison, the 64oz growler fills were $45 so you were better off $ vs. oz wise there.

I got to try Divine 1 (I think) at Max's during their rare beer week. I found it to be an utter, undrinkable mess, as it was way too sweet and boozy for me. Each to their own and all that, but I'd have been hopping mad if I paid $25 for a bottle of that stuff (fortunately, they had just run out of iit when I stopped by Fishpaws last year); as it was, I was unable to finish even the small sample glass I ordered at Max's.

Hey, if DuClaw can continue to find buyers for this stuff, more power too them, but I think the high alcohol and huge amount of sweetness in this beer is not going to be something that everyone is going to enjoy. The high price tag only adds to the pain (IMHO).

I can't disagree, but they're local and I always try to give the local guys the benefit of the doubt. So I figure I at least have to give things like Divine Retribution, Collosus, Cocoa Retriburtion and Repent a try. Every once in a while they turn out to be pretty good (like the Devil's Milk aged in Jack Daniel barrels), so at least there's that.

And in all fairness, FW Parabola puts a lot of more expensive, barrel aged imperial stouts to shame.

I can confirm a $37 sighting at the PP. And if that doesn't get you, there is a $45 Cherry Rye too
