I had it on draft at Max's in Baltimore a number of weeks ago. When it was set in front of me I was convinced it was not a gose brewed with plums and then when I tasted it I was even further disappointed. After Hitachino Anbai, there is no other gose brewed with plums.
Same, though I've admittedly not had many of their offerings. Only one I have had that I thoroughly enjoy is Retribution
My friend calls them the desert beer company. I'm yet to be impressed by anything except sweet baby Jesus.
fwiw, the doods at Shawan told me they got some for the growler station.. but it tasted so bad they actually sent it back, lol.
I'm not crazy about Duclaw or anything but I have been pretty pleased with a few of their one-offs like Devil's Due, Guilty Filthy Soul, Hop Continuum No.1, and Gridlock. Hell on wood is very good as well. Duclaw isn't necessarily a top tier brewery but they do brew a decent amount of winners and they keep their beers at a fair price point. I will probably try this beer and I hope I enjoy it...they're also releasing Hop Continuum no. 2 mosaic red ipa this month which sounds pretty tasty
I've been wanting to try Umeboshi, but not enough to drive out to Arundel Mills or pick up a full growler of it. Duclaw has enough consistently decent bottled offerings that I've kinda glazed over their draft only stuff. Admittedly avoided the company a bit after SBJ out of some unearned loyalty to Spring House and my college town. But they make generally good beer along a normal curve.
Looks like @Dave_Treat and @Ncpogs tried it Sunday after the share, Untappd ratings are less than stellar, any thoughts to add fellas?
To be honest Jeremy everything we had that Sunday was like going back to the minor leagues after the share we had on Saturday. This was probably one of their better offerings, but really did nothing for me.
Sadly that's my overall impression of their beers as well. There's a spot for them in the market but rarely it's for me. Even had you stopped before the share, I don't think you'd have been impressed Nick.
You are probably right Nick. This is like a craft brewery for noobs. It's a good transition to get them off BMC and other macro stuff and to start appreciating craft beer, but most all of the beers we had were thin with not a lot of body to them.
