I subscribe to a bunch of beer magazines - more than I have time to read usually. Would it be tacky to toss a few in with a trade? If they weren't months old I wouldn't hesitate, but I don't know if it's rude to send someone a mag that's not current.
There is a free local beer magazine called the West Coaster, I send it out to the people I trustee for. Not sure if they like it, read it, or just throw it away
I've received several issues of Beer Advocate before. I normally wouldn't read it, so it was a nice throw in.
Funny little extras are always cool. I've had people send candy and maple syrup. I once sent a guy a bottle of a local StL salad dressing as an "extra"
Aside from brewery swag (glasses, stickers, bottle openers, etc) I have had people send me BBQ sauce.
A list of stuff I've sent or received as an extra in a trade: Beer (obviously) Local gourmet chocolate bars Bottle and can coozies Beer related magnets, stickers, and buttons A 'dancing Dylan' made of paper that a dude ordered me off etsy Omaha steaks Lego keychain of a storm trooper Glassware Tequila Keychains Local Blueberry wine Beer magazines-- OLD beeradvocate mags, draft, and BEER magazine Non-beer magizines-- playboy, maxim, and some amazing Norwegian ****. Harley Davidson coffee mug T-shirts Baseball hats Winter stocking hats Bandana Sunglasses CDs and DVDs -- including burned copies and Bob Dylan bootlegs Guitar picks Mandolin strings Messenger bag I'll add more if I remember any. So.... I guess.... toss in whatever the fuck you think would be cool. But please note; many of the 'stranger' items were in trades with regular trading partners.
Can't believe ALEWATCHER is commenting on my (trading) post! I'm honored. Oh and I read your trading tips about nineteen times before sending my first package
