Has anybody seen or had this yet?

Heard some big back story about how Duvel finally gave the recipe out for the first time ever and it was released by Ommegang after being made at their brewery.

Yes. If you are not aware, Ommegang belongs to the Duvel family of brewers. Duvel Rustica will be Ommegang's interpretation of Duvel's Golden Ale. Cleveland Beer Week 2012, which kicks off this Friday and runs through the following Saturday, will have several events focusing on the tapping of this limited production. Hope this helps you out.

    Cheers

Translation: Duvel can't go back to making Duvel the way it used to be, but they know Duvel isn't nearly as good as it once was so they're going to have their American-based brewery do it and call it a different name. Heck, it's working for Bass, Beck's and Guiness. Why not? http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/552/61849

I actually picked up a bottle of Duvel Rustica at my local shop a couple of days ago; haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to it.
Oof. Kinda cynical, no? I think it's cool, Gnomegang is a very solid brew along the same lines (d'Achouffe is owned by Duvel Moortgat, too, so the "collaboration" relationship in this instance is essentially the same) so I'm very interested to see the results of this project, too.

Duvel Rustica is in Syracuse, so CNY folks should be seeing it soon.

Haven't seen it on Long Island yet. Love Duvel and always liked Ommegang - can't imagine not loving this...

So that means...based on the fact that it's a NY brewery...and I live in NY....carry the 2.... it'll probably be about $18.99 here.

I don't get why their stuff is crazy expensive compared to a couple of years ago...

Equating Duvel to Bass, Beck's and Guiness is a bit extreme, no? BTW - Ommegang brews Ommegang. Duvel is not in charge of brewing operations in Cooperstown, Phil Leinhart is.

I bought a 750 ml champagne corked bottle and drank it about 3 weeks ago,see my review on BA. I bought it with huge expectations ($15.99) but it did not live up to it. I like Duvel better than this and I am a big fan of Ommegang. The sum of the parts was less than the parts.
