I like it a lot. It's, umm, much hoppier.

There aren't too many breweries that have set up to export to China, but in Beijing and Shanghai, at least, Brooklyn, Saranac and North Coast are surprisingly common. (Budweiser and PBR are more common, though, and cater much more to tastes of the public at large.) There are a few good small breweries that have been ramping up in several of the big cities, but they rarely bottle; most've been started by American or British ex-pats. Several are pretty good.

The pragmatically but rather Amero-centric-ly named The Rest of the World forum has some more discussion, although it's infrequent that people post there.

I loved the 2015 Triple Hop when I first tried it a couple months ago (4-pack purchased in Belgium that was less than 2 months old). Aroma was excellent. I picked up two more 4-packs a couple weeks ago, and didn't check the dates (turned out to be 7 months old). The 7 month old beer didn't have a fresh aroma and was astringent. I recommend the beer, but treat it as you would a well dry-hopped IPA in terms of drinking fresh. Pass on it if you can only bottles past their prime.

For me, both suit different situations. I love regular Duvel, and still buy it from time to time. That being said, each year I am also looking forward to Tripel Hop. They change the hop varieties each year, and it is always way hoppier, more intense than regular Duvel, and has a totally different ballance. Totally different beers, both are enjoyable. Just like with La Chouffe blonde and Houblon Chouffe...

Triple Hop is sweet and malty like ordinary Duvel. I did not find it hoppy at all. IBU tasted considerable below 50.

Maybe its aigan a freshness issue?
I only buy it in belgium and always find it way more hoppy and less malty-sweet ,also a bit cleaner, than the standard duvel.
