I went to the taproom last night and tried Norma Gene. It is so damn good. In my opinion, it is perfect right now and doesn't even need to be aged. Smooth, Chocolatey, hints of bourbon, thick on the tongue. Also, it has a great sweetness to it. It reminded me of BCBS, but sweeter.

I was really surprised how good it was. Also, if you're a mug club member you get a free 5 oz (normally $5) sample. There is also a $9 snifter option. It was totally worth getting caught in the rain on the bike ride home!

My buddy and I also did the free brewery tour which was a lot of fun. Man, I love the taproom....so much better than the brewpub.

I tried it at the brewpub last night (unfortunately the Tap Room is a lot farther away from where I live) and it was great. Really reminded me of BCBS also. I am not shocked that I liked the beer so much since I love Hugene, but this was definitely one of the best BA Rev beers that I've had, right there with Bean Gene.

The brewpub was pretty packed at 10pm on a Wednesday. I don't spend a ton of time in Logan Square so maybe that's the norm, but I was a little surprised. I'm glad they are doing such good business though.

The brewpub is always a madhouse. I was there around 8 and lucked out with my buddy to find two seats at the bar last night. Yes, I went to the taproom and the brewpub last night.....stop laughing at me. Will be buying many, many bottles when they are released (well, whatever the limit is).

Is it to much of a stretch to say it's kinda (I emphasize kinda) like BCBS and Dark Lord banged and this is their child?

This was the first time I hit up both spots. Mainly went to the BrewPub to get food. The Mug Club is awesome. So worth the "one time fee" of $25. haha.

Yeah, I live over in Bucktown though so the Brewpub is a walkable distance whereas the Taproom is a pretty far to walk on a rainy wednesday night. I usually drive over to the taproom, but that's obviously not a great idea when 12% beers are on the table.

I think you are supposed to, but...

It doesn't seem to matter for the release samples, but it may for the free growler deal since they keep track electronically.

sorry about the necro-quote, but did anyone else try alderaan last night? i thought it was good with nice chocolate and roast but on the thin and boozy side. barrels could help or hurt this one, imo.
