    Hey BA...
I just found out that a buddy of mine has quite a few 02's, 03's, 04's and 05's but is missing most of the second half of the vertical. I wanted to try and help him complete a couple sets using some of the years mentioned above. Would this be pretty easy to do? Could he get three to four 06s, 07s, 08s and 09s with a combination of 02.02.02 through 05.05.05?

Also would a combo land a DDG or CC?

    Cheers all!

"Quite a few" 02.02.02s could buy you a car.

if not clear from the other posts--which are not sarcastic, though maybe a car is a little hyperbolic--you can get the rest of the VE series and then some. 02.02.02 is exponentially more valuable than every one after.

it's weird, since it doesn't seem likely to have held up (little witbier aging for 12 years), but the demand for it is undeniable.

Thanks everyone for the honest feedback. I appreciate it. I just wanted to make sure that I would be able to help my friend out with reasonable trades for both parties. The main reason for this post was because I was aware of the "falling off" of the 02.02.02 but wasn't that sure if the value was still extremely sought after.

    Cheers!

People (read: 'morons'' ) spending that much on any witbier or any Stone brew for that matter, certainly have no intention of actually drinking it.

Right on Dan. I love the recycled wisdom around these parts.

I've seen older ones (back to 06) on the shelf of a store here in Columbus (it's been a couple of months since i've been there so not entirely sure if someone didn't snatch them up yet), granted there was a quite a bit of a markup on it, but they don't seem rare (especially compared to what your friend already has).. a few stores here even got a case of 10 when 11 was released.

If you want to trade for the 02, I would do it. I need just that to make my complete vertical. If you are anywhere close to Michigan and want to bring it along for the tasting, you are more than welcome. I expect nothing from the beer as it should taste, but am looking more for the experience of tasting a beer as it might have been purposed. But the others that you are missing should be easy to get, but as it gets closer to December, expect the value to go up.

All but the 02 are obtainable fairly easy. Although stone's own blog has reviews a few years ago that basically say the 02' flat and the taste is way off where it started life.If you brew they posted the recipe for all the verticals on the stone website. I know of one person brewing a fresh batch for his Vertical party next year. I tried the 04 a few years ago and found that oddly refreshing, even after all these years.

    Good luck.

What do you want me to say? I just hope that people who convo this guy will give him fair value for his beers.

It would be the End of the World if I lived in Vermont for a Winter.

Do you honestly think anyone is going to do that? Every indication I can see is that people will want to fleece the noob.

If you're gonna have an "End of the world tasting" be sure to include La Fin du Monde. I drank two bombers of that one time and woke up the next morning with a wicked hangover and the case of the swine flu. Only then did I learn la fin du monde means "End of the world" in French...
