A bunch of people already said it, but Ten Fidy immediately came to mind for me.

You should definitely try Carton Unjunct.
River Horse Oatmeal milk stout is worth a try. Schlafly Irish stout is good.

I'll go with some local options (Also would help if you said where you are from if there might be local brewery options you might have missed on)

    1. Brix City Brewing - Porter Authority
    2. Carton Brewing - Unjunct
    3. Man Skirt - The Great Porter
    4. Spellbound Brewing - Palo Santo Porter

Founders Porter is world class and should be easily accessible

BTW @TongoRad , the Carton beer is called Unjunct because there's no coffee in it. Seriously. Get it?

Got a bottle sitting in my beer chest - will be cracking it open soon! Much as I'd like, the price tag makes it more than an everyday drinker - certainly not something I would shy away from, but also not something I'd crack on the daily.

I tried Unjunct and wasn't a huge fan. A bit thin and bland. Maybe a bad batch, willing to give it another try.

I saw that at Cable a few weeks ago, and it looked like they got Captain Obvious to write the copy on the side of the can . That stuff really needs to be said?!! Sadly, yes, I suppose. I probably won't be picking any up until my March beer break is over, though.

I second the Smuttynose Robust Porter recommendation. One of my favorites and very easy to find in NJ.

He said stuff that's not as rich as Founders Breakfast stout. Many of the suggestions are certainly as rich or richer, with abvs near or over 10%. Might as well add DFH World Wide Stout while we're at it! All stouts that I love, but still.

I'd say stick to Porters and lower ABV Stouts. Lots of good Porter suggestions here. I'm also gonna toss in Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout and New Holland The Poet out here as suggestions.

Aw, c'mon. This is BA. We don't carefully read posts. We just loudly proclaim our love of hoppy, BIG and barrel aged beers.

    Cheers!

Edit: Oh, and tooth enamel removing sour beers as well.

I absolutely love big ABV stouts! Got BCBS, KBS, Speedway, Peche Mortel, and several other big stouts waiting for the right time to be cracked open.

But yeah, this is more of an "easy-drinking yet complex tasting" request  However I welcome all the big stout requests too, because if I haven't had them, I'll pick them up too. I went with the Left Hand Nitro before the Nor'Easter yesterday, and my wife loved em. We will check out some of the other options too.

@jp_4, does your wife make "the face" whenever she tries your big boy stouts?

The best example ever of "the face" was my mom trying an IPA. So funny.

Hahaha... My wife loves the high ABV stouts! It's the IPAs she's not into. The high ABV stouts are nice, just not for the everyday session with dinner!
