Well, I've been commandeered by the family to drive to Florida and back to clean out my grandfather's condo. So I thought I'd make a beer trip out of it! My route is Hartford, CT to Princeton, NJ to Winston-Salem, NC and finally Venice, FL. Mostly on I-95 save for the detour to Winston-Salem. If you have a brewery you think I should hit up on my way down (or back) please list it here for me! I know very little about breweries outside of New England. Looking at 3 days drive down and 2 days drive back. Thanks in advance!
Your going thru Richmond , so Veil. NC bottle shops on your route Would be Sams in Durham, Bestway in Greensboro, they both do growlers. . Foothills Brewery is in WS.
I'm guessing Two Roads is already on your list as your from CT? Not sure how far off course you want to deviate. Singlecut & Other Half in NYC make some tasty brews. If you head a little West into North East NJ I'd recommend Magnify & Twin Elephant. In Philly (I'm not a Philly local, so someone else probably has better recommendations): Monk's Cafe & Yards Brewing. I think Victory probably has something around there too.
Richmond: The Answer/hit Mekong for food and beer with lunch/dinner, the Veil and Triple Crossing Charlotte: Heist That's pretty much all you need.
In Jacksonville there is Aardwolf. In Tampa cigar City, Angry Chair. Civil Society in Jupiter and Cycle in St Pete.
If you are going through Charlotte, NC Heist and Resident Culture and Charleston, SC Charlestowne Fermentory
Depending on the day/time you're passing through RVA ... Final Gravity is a great stop in addition to The Answer / Mekong, Triple Crossing, and The Veil. If IPAs aren't your thing, Hardywood (though they've upped their IPA game a bit lately too).
