Lucked out on getting some finally and had a quick question. I'm going to be splitting into two 2.5 gallon fermentors (because that's what I have)

    Would you:

    a. decant the liquid off and split the "yeast"
    b. swirl up the liquid and split the liquid/yeast mixture

There has to be some bugs in the liquid right?

Option B is what I would do.

1 container is enough to pitch in most 5 gallon batches so I would not see an issue with half in a 2.5 gallon batch.

    B. Swirl and split if it is in the vial from ECY

If it is washed yeast that you got from someone else then decant most of the liquid leaving just enough so you can swirl and get all of the yeast out.

Good luck doing A in a sanitary fashion. I usually decant some, but leave some to swirl. I then split the liquids.

Option b, if for no other reason than I think a more fluid slurry is easier to mix and split evenly. Of course. Making a starter and splitting it would be better.
