I've got to work up in the Eastern Shore of Virginia next week, and am wondering if anyone knows of any bottle shops or places with a good draft list? I know of Grapes & Gourmet in Va. Beach, but I don't want to have to take the bridge-tunnel any more than I need to. Any tips would be great!
Having lived there for 20+ years before moving on to NC I can tell you there is slim pickings on the ESVA. Grape Gourmet is a fantastic bottle shop, but paying the toll over is costly. I would rather spend that on beer. For the ESVA there is a place called Gull Hammock Gourmet Market (http://www.capecharlesbythebay.com/business/gull-hummock-gourmet/) in Cape Charles, VA. They have all of the VA/MD beers we can't get in NC as well as some rarities from time to time such as Dogfish Head 120. Another nice bottle shop is roughly a 45 minute drive depending on where you are on the ESVA in lower MD. It is called Pocomoke Beer & Wine (https://www.facebook.com/beerwine.pocomoke). Again, a lot of VA/MD beers not available in NC as well as rarities such as Sam Adams Utopias and 120 minute IPA. Most of the Food Lions and other grocery stores will have some beers by Devil's Backbone and Evolution that aren't available in NC. My family is still on the ESVA so I scoped out all the hot spots during my last visit. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Damn, that's amazing info! Thanks! I'm headed up on Sunday so unfortunately I'll have to hit Grape Gourmet on the way out of town, but Ill definitely make the drive to Pocomoke!
