    And yes Weihenstephaner original is an amazing beer. I'll still take a world class example of a style that's within 20 miles of home than one from across an ocean.

    Because it was a bottle? Despite the method used to open that bottle/cap design, the cap was still just as "removable" as pry-off or twist-off crowns. I've never found the particular NJ law that banned the removable "pop-top" designed cans, but I assume it applied only to canned beverages.

    That was the case with many of the other states' laws banning the "pop top" - some of which were passed along with the mandatory bottle/can deposit laws. That was the case with Oregon, the first state to have a Mandatory Deposit Law which including banning "... the detachable pop-tops used to open most beer and soft-drink cans..." according to wire service stories at the time - 1972. Such a ban was also part of Michigan's Mandatory Deposit Law.
