Is anyone planning on doing bottle shares in the Boston area during EBF (Thurs-Sat)? This is my first year attending so I have no idea what generally happens.
Ole Magoun Saloon in Somerville is having something the night before. Sponsored by Dogfish Head I believe. http://www.beeradvocate.com/events/info/70594/
I'm planning on going to Magoun/Lord Hobo Thursday, looking at were to go Friday after the night session. Does anyone know if any bars allow bottle shares at all? I remember a few years ago a bottle share broke out at Three Penny Taproom when the BA crew were there, but I doubt MA will be that lax... I'm also curious about Funky Buddha, they mentioned they might do a tap takeover/event.
I would be happy to throw in a 750ml Julius, a crowler of Sunny Side Up and maybe another for 3 people.
Is this happening? And where? I could do Event Horizon, Triple C BBA chocolate covered pretzel stout, and some NoDa (Hop Drop 'n Roll and Coco Loco). Coming up from Charlotte today and open for any last second recommendations.
I'm getting extra hungover at the thought of drinking a bunch of beer after (or before) EBF. I'll be going out to dinner after Session #2 to sober up enough to drive home.
Jeez, yeah I really like the idea of awesome beer shares w/people from across the country, but after the fest last year I was drunk/buzzed for a good four hours+ afterwards. Glad I don't have to drive anywhere!
EBF drunk is something special. I equate it to the difference between recovering from a 5K (typical big Friday night) and a marathon.
So you're saying drinking craft beer is exactly like running a marathon? I gotta tell my girlfriend this, she runs and wants me to start too. I'm already a marathon runner!
Think about it. An elite runner will complete a marathon in 3-3.5 hours. EBF is 3.5 hours. Plus, I've never puked after EBF or a really long race, but it takes me two days to recover. I've puked or nearly puked after many races of 5K or shorter, and after many big Friday nights. But I'm usually good by lunch afterwards.
I'd be very careful with this, there are SO many cops around after. All of the beer at EBF is great, super strong, and gonna kick your ass. Don't say someone didn't warn you if you can't drive after or get popped. Also in the even something tragic ever happened I don't think it's wise to post your intentions online. Be safe, be smart, have fun
That is why my dinner reservation is within walking distance of the Seaport WTC. This plan worked out very well last year. I would never drive while impaired.
I suffered a second degree burn 2 years ago from a coffee purchased at Formaggio after the fest. The girl behind the counter screamed, or so I was told, when I spilled it all over my hand. I didn't even notice, added cream and sugar, and left.
