I was at one of my local stores today to try to pick up some BCBS coffee/barleywine for a buddy and they had this on the shelf.

The beer manager who's a really nice guy, but not as beer savvy as the rest of us here, wasn't sure what it was or the significance of the wax. He said the distributer just dropped it off without description. He was grateful for the explanation. Anyway, has it always been distributed in NJ and I have just been missing it or is this something new? I've only bought one bottle of this in the past (probably not worth the money, but I'm sucker) and I had to go into PA to get it.

Hunterdon just started distributing Eclipse this week. I'm not sure if Eclipse has ever been distributed in NJ before but I have never seen it.

I picked up a bottle of the Purple label (Purple - Elijah Craig® 12-yr) at a store in my area. They are the biggest store around and only got 1 case (6 bottles) so this will be pretty hard to come by.

Was kind of upset Boonton didn't have it today. Although maybe I should be grateful with a price of $28...

Picked up a bottle of the High West Bourbon variant today. My local guy didn't realize the different wax meant different treatments until I showed him on the brewery website. Weird that Hunterdon would give stores a brand new item without the key info about each variant.

These are coming in this weekend in Union County. I just ordered a case from my distributor, only had one left by the time I got my order in.

First time its been distributed. Was supposed to come last year but something fell through. Every store that got it only got 1 mixed case. It was only listed in an email from their specialty brands manager and was pretty much buried. Pretty sure I emailed him back in less than a minute of receiving it. And now High West Bourbon, EC12, and Four Roses sit in my cellar and join the 3 I have left from last year's drunken Vermont purchase of all 6 distributed varieties. On something this geeky Hunterdon shouldn't sell it to stores that don't know what it is. They should sell it all to my store haha.

So you bought half the case before your customers could get any? Most places are allowing people to buy one per person. Surprised you even put it out for sale if you're going to be that greedy.

This is the first year they've used a Maker's Mark barrel. Red wax would've been more appropriate, but Four Roses already had dibs.

Seen them in Monmouth county but that price tag is too steep for something I have never tried or know much about.

unfortunately that's pretty much the price everywhere unless you go to the release or order futures from the brewery. they run $30-35 in philly.
