Eclipse Futures

It would be nice if they would tell us which High West barrels they used. Still, that and Makers are intriguing.

 

I have done futures each year FiftyFifty has offered them, and I will again this year. Thanks, TheCrowsNest, for posting it!

I'm bummed that the futures aren't including the rarer bottles. Looking at my receipt, in 2012, the futures didn't include EC 20 or the Grand Cru. 2013 looks like all bourbon, all the time on futures.

I'm also bummed there are no futures for Brandy this year (yeah, I know, 2012 didn't have Brandy at all).

That said, I'll be getting at least a case.

 

What does it cost (approximately) to have these shipped to SoCal?

 

I think they didn't have great yields on them (or had relatively few barrels). They didn't have EC20 on tap at the party, and the bottle limit was fairly low given that there were only 125 people there.

I'm not sure what the deal with the Grand Cru was, though.

 

No EC? What the fuck

 

Curious if anyone's had any shipped to the Bay Area and/or if anyone knows if I can have them shipped to a friend instead? I was just at the brewery recently (3/29) when I went skiing this past March and they had EC12 on tap and oh boy was that great (I had it one other time at Darkness Day).

I was thinking of having 6 bottles shipped to my boss or 12 not sure. He's in San Francisco, then I was going to have him just ship them to me. Unless, since I see pickup is by Jan 20 maybe I can swing a trip to the brewery and go skiing again (the boss has a Cabin near Truckee) and it'll give me an excuse to go earlier then the end of March .

 

Yes. I have them shipped to someone in CA who then sends them to me in MN.

 

Just noticed a tweet that they acquired EC 12 barrels and added it to the futures list. I'm curious what expressions they will add by the release date.

 

not sure about shipping costs, but they become available at the release party, which has been in early Dec, so your Jan trip should work out well.

 

Yea that's what I was thinking. I see I have till Nov 1 to decide. Since my company's based in the Bay Area I could go out there whenever, maybe I can convince my boss for us to go for the release party

 

Order in, but did a bad job reviewing ordered 1 Four Roses and 2 EW, meant to do the opposite, sent an email, hopefully they can make the change for me.

 

Ugh, couldn't get myself to bite the bullet. Just going to see if I can manage a trip out there for the release party. After figuring in buying, shipping to my boss (or baggage for flight back and I do love getting crazy beers but I hate paying baggage so I uusually just drink them out there), then shipping to me just can't justify it. GREAT beer but we got some killer BA stuff here in MN.

 

Got my order in no problem. Simple, smooth & website performed flawlessly. Glad to see EC back on the list.

 

Just placed my order, was pleasently surprises to see EC12 on the list! Here's what I got:

2 Four Roses
4 Evan Williams (loved the '12 version of this!)
3 High West Bourbon
4 Maker's Mark (a favorite bourbon of mine, excited for this one!)
3 Buffalo Trace
4 Elijah Craig 12yr

Also, they get points for how easy this was to handle. Could not have been a more flawless system. From 3,000 miles away, the Fifty/Fifty folks have always provided customer service way above and beyond (I made multiple changes as to my trustees, etc. last year...Alica was awesome to deal with).

 

I just picked up a single bottle of each. Looking at their futures "menu," anyone know the difference between "Bourbon Barrel" and "Barrel Blend"? Most of their offerings say "Bourbon Barrel," but Buffalo Trace and EC say "Barrel Blend". Does this mean that these two varieties are actually blended with other types of bourbon barrels, blends from the same barrels but from past years, or something totally different?

 

I had it on tap at the party, and the bottle limit was 8. . .

Did we go to the same party?

 

Huh, I really thought it wasn't on tap. And 8 for 125 people implies ~1000 bottles, which isn't all that many for Eclipse variants.
