Hey everybody- I recently traded for a 2014 Eclipse Elijah Craig 12 year (purple wax). After receiving the bottle and inspecting it I had a question for people who are more experienced with these bottles. Now in 2014 I know they made the Elijah Craig (purple wax) as well as a java- vanilla (lavender/with a white wax top). The wax on the Eclipse bottle I received was faded a bit it seemed- it wasn't that deep purple that's in the picture, I will say however there wasn't a white wax top, it was just pure purple or maybe lavender. Is it possible this bottle is a java-vanilla and the white wax just fell off leading the buyer and myself to think it was purple wax? Has anyone experienced this? My other clue was that printed on the side it said Bottle Run (BR) 1. Would this mean batch number 1 for the year or the first batch produced?- which would again make it the java-vanilla which was first produced this year. Either way it's fine, I don't believe the trader intended this at all, I was just curious what people thought. Like I said, I'm not experienced with fifty fifty's bottling format.

    Thanks all

Both the 2013 and 2014 Elijah Craig 12 year have been a solid dark purple wax. No speckles.

Dude the word "speckled" it's the best way to describe the wax on my bottle LOL – oh well I guess I have a java vanilla on my hands. Not what I wanted, but like I said, I pretty positive he didn't do it on purpose

    Thanks! – Cheers

I still have never figured out how to post pictures on this site LOL – and I don't find myself to computer illiterate either. But with that, I'm pretty positive it's a Java – vanilla, it's a light purple with speckles in it. Oh well I guess the hunt is still on then! Cheers – thanks

Happy to help. FWIW I took the Java Coffee to a bottle share and it was pretty good. I'm gonna sit on the Elijah Craig for a year as the other whiskey/bourbon variants I've had were pretty hot when they were relatively fresh.

Hey thanks man- quick question just to clarify- the one on the left, is that Java coffee? Or coffee-vanilla?

@Vivs85 Left is Java Coffee. I've never seen a bottle of the Vanilla-Java in person but from pictures theres no mistaking the two as the vanilla has white wax on the top.

They make great Ba beers, the only knock is price. If they were $20 they'd fly off the shelf everywhere, the ones I saw in Pa were $31/32.
