@ChristianKelly - Do you work for Eddyline?

Eddyline definitely makes some great beer. I have it when i'm in CO for skiing. Wish I could get River Runners Pale Ale out here in Jersey. It's just a great, well-made, throwback kinda Pale Ale!

We Can date with a unique system. We print the names and elevations of Colorado's 14,000 foot mountains in a descending order. Each week is a new mountain.

That's some Grade A trolling right there.

I got a sixer of Boater beer this week, and it says Mt. Princeton on it, and 14204. I didn't see the numbers when I bought it, but they scare, although I can't believe it was canned in '14. The beer tastes good, though.

If I'm understanding @jpjpjp correctly, Mt. Princeton is the 20th tallest 14er in Colorado, therefore your beer was canned in the 20th week of the year - approximately sometime in May?

That's not so bad, and about what I'd guess. The code 14204 had me afraid it was canned on the 204th day of 2014. If it were my business, I'd want a more transparent code system, because had I seen that number before I grabbed the sixer, I never would have bought the beer. I got it at Union Jack, and they usually don't have super-old beers like that; it was also in the cooler, so however old it is, it's in good shape.

This appears to actually be true. At first, I thought: clever. Then the more I thought about it, I think it's BS. What is the point? The point is that we need to solve a riddle to figure out if the beer we're about to buy is stale or not. An exercise, very few of us will be willing to do. So, they get the benefit of having a mechanism to look into various batch issues if they arise, but we, their customer realistically have very little way of discerning if the beer is fresh or not (further, none of us would know about that had we not asked in this forum). I think it's bush league, but maybe I'm just being reactionary here as I've thought about it more. Just one beer drinkers $0.01 (oh and I have a 6'er of River Runner in my fridge right now, so I actually buy their stuff on the regular -- and have definitely had old stuff from them that I couldn't avoid).

Our Pumpkin Patch Ale was brewed in July 2015 and canned in our 16 ounce 6 packs in August 2015. It is extremely fresh and of the highest quality. It is available now at liquor stores throughout Colorado.
