I'll be in this area visiting family for xmas to new years. Anyone familiar with this area and what good local brews I should look for. I believe Cigar City can be found in the area which is a good as I am looking for forward to trying a Jai Alai.

Any other recommendations? Can be any style, IPA, Porters, Pilsners. Love em all.

    Thank guys!

Two local breweries near there...New Smyrna Beach Brewing and Tomoka Brewing. Tomoka is a must especially since they have good food. Other options out in Deland

Tomoka is a sure bet and isn't too far from Edgewater. They tend to brew with some weird ingredients but are usually tasty. Last time I was there I had their Tom Yum Thai Gose and it was delicious paired with some fish tacos. Personally, I don't care for anything that New Smyrna has brewed. A bit farther away in Deland is Persimmon Hollow and some of their stuff is good although they tend to be a bit heavy handed with spicing in their belgian beers. Central 28 in Debary is showing some promise. Up River Pale Ale is really really good and can be found pretty regularly in cans or on draft. Central 28 also just released a Tiramisu based Stout (El Bulli) that is pretty tasty if a bit sweet.

As far as bottles, there is a new ABC liquors in New Smyrna that has a good selection. Total Wine in Daytona has a great selection as well. Jai Alai is fantastic just be sure to check the date before you buy them.

Tomoka had great brews. Loved the Twist of Cane and Peter the Great Imperial Stout.

    Thanks again for the recommendation!
