Will be in town for the battle of Alberta in a couple weeks. Wondering where to hit within reasonable walking distance for good beers?
Do you mean a place to drink beer? Or a place to get beer to go? Sadly the area near the stadium is a bit of a beer wasteland IIRC. It's been years since I was there though.
I know there is an Edmonton based user on here, but I can’t remember his handle. I’ll ask in a Canadian Facebook group and report back. Cheers!
@blackcloud The two spots people are recommending on the Facebook group are Campio brewing company. This seems the unanimous first choice. They recommend reservations if you want to go pre-game. The other one is the Growlery Den. This place looks to have beers from a few local breweries. I’ve never been to either myself, but this what the craft beer locals are telling me. Cheers! https://campiobrewingco.com/ https://www.growlerybeer.com/home
I think the BA who lives in Edmonton is @wordempug. Not sure if he is active though as I can’t get his name to highlight. He used to be active in the Canadian trade forums and I believe worked at a beer store. Hopefully he sees this and can give you more ideas. Cheers and enjoy your trip!
I'll be making a similar trip to Edmonton at the end of May for the Canada Men's National Team Game. I am definitely going to stop at Alley Kat and Sea Change, but just wanted to touch base if there were any other must get recommendations to take back home. I see Campio is listed, also will be bringing some brew from the Hammer if anyone is interested, but my impression is that there aren't a lot of Edmonton BAs who frequent this forum.
