I agree (Although I do enjoy Westbrook a lot), the one Voodoo just put on tap is more traditional and amazing.

My first Gose was Stillwater's Gose Gone Wild, BA rated at 4.46 currently. I fear it is all down hill for me, hard to beat that rating. I found it to be terrific and has changed my perspective on Berliner Weiss's and Gose, well and Sours as a whole. I look for it now, Gose's not so much Gose Gone Wild as it isn't distributed up my way. Even asked the head brewmaster from Wicked Weed if he's going to give Gose a shot, said he's considering it, but he could have been being polite.

    So, cheer's to the journey!

Berlin has abandoned the style for the most part but Berliner Weisse is incredibly well documented by VLB and we have painfully detailed texts about how it has been brewed over time so anyone looking to make an authentic version can easily do so. I'm not aware of this kind of documentation of gose.

Only the Boston locals would likely be familiar with this release as it is brewed in small quantity and distributed (generally) to bars along the marathon course. Not ever bottled to my knowledge.

Sam Adams made another gose called Verloren (in their 500ML series) which was higher ABV (perhaps atypically so) and IMO better than 26.2. The gose is a great drink to make the "marathon beer" because of its added salts for electrolyte replacement in runners.

Given my choice...I'd take the Lost Nation as the most drinkable, but if I was having just a glass...I love the tartness of Westbrook's even if atypical (and I don't have a damned idea if it is or isn't).

Maybe SA is having a hard time selling it. I had it on tap at a Chili's on Route 1 in Dedham. I was actually excited to try it because of the attention that Gose has been getting lately on this site, but like I said, very disappointed. I tried the Lost Nation Gose at their brewery last summer and I remember liking it, although I only had a few swigs from my wife's glass.

Found it pretty salty, which is why I enjoy it more than a few others, but the sour doesn't approach Westbrook, in my opinion. Tart seems to be the more appropriate descriptor for Ritterguts
