Hitachino Nest Commemorative is the best Eisbock I've ever had.

I preferred KRE. But I am a blueberry hater.

I've had Schneider Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock, and I loved it! I would like to try more eisbocks. As far as what America has to offer, I'm not sure. I most certainly want to find out and try them if they're out there.

Wow, I totally did not know that. What a backwards law. As soon as I get good enough as homebrewing, I'm going to attempt to make my own eisbock and now I know it's illegal, it will be more fun.

Has Kuhnhenn released Raspberry and Blueberry Eisbock in bigger bottles? I remember it being in a small bottle and if it were 30 bucks I would have remembered. And I've seen some bottles online that look bigger, with raspberries or blueberries on the label which I don't remember seeing before.

The biggest bottle is a 375mL and they both were $30. The 2007 Raspberry was in a 187mL.

"Backward"? Rather than being a case of ignorance of a traditional brewing method, I assume it is yet another Excise tax-based rule - since "malt beverages" are taxed at a comparatively low rate of between 22-58¢ a gallon, while higher alcohol wines' excise tax rate is $1.07-3.40 a gallon and distilled spirits at $13.50/gallon (at 100 proof). The original concept behind the ban is probably to prevent alcoholic beverage producers to be able to sell a high ABV product that is fermented/malt based, but created by so-called "freeze distillation" and thus circumventing the Excise Tax rates.

There have been cases of brewers being taxed a higher rates because the "flavoring" they add to their "malt beverages" contributed too much of the products' total alcohol content, so that the TTB no longer considered it a fermented malt beverage, but a distilled beverage. Here's a TTB announcement of such a case against BBC, for one of it's FMBs obviously - Twisted Tea or HardCore Cider.

And, conversely, it is one of the reasons why so many "wine cooler" type products are malt-based.

Sly Fox make an Eisbock but it is only available at their Bock Fest/Goat Race. As a FYI, the Bock Fest is a very good time! Cheers to Sly Fox!

    “Slacker Eisbock
This rare version (the beer is frozen and the water removed) of Slacker Bock is available in limited quantity ONLY at the Bock Festival & Goat Race.
    n/a OG | n/a IBUs | n/a% ABV”

Trippel Weizenbock. They do have a barrel aged version, but I do not believe it is an eisbock.
