    Hey everyone!
First time posting here, so I will try my best to not make a fool of myself haha.

I'm brewing a 5gal grain & extract IPA this Sunday. I'm going for a mosaic-centric ale. Hop bill consisting of 1oz Warrior @ 60, 1oz Mosaic and 1oz Centennial @ 30, and 1oz Mosaic for the late addition. I was planning to dry hop with a couple oz of Mosaic, but I cleared out my shops last two packs. However, I do have 2oz of El Dorado from the ballast point store in the freezer.
Would an El Dorado dry hop hurt? I always like to have my dry hop addition the same as at least one of the hops in the boil. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have no experience with this combination. However, I think this really comes down to a personal preference, not a right wrong. My mindset is why not give it a shot. If you’re concerned about profiles clashing, consider a split batch and if you’re going through the extra work, why not split it further and try more combinations to find your favorite. Brewing is subjective, which is what makes it great . . . clearly none of us what to drive Miller every day and for that matter most of us prefer to never drink it.

Absolutely not. Most likely it would compliment the brew.

My idea would be to divert the 1 oz Mosiac from 30 min to DH, along with 1 oz of ED. Then repeat this combo for your late addition. Overall that's a lightweight hop-bill for an IPA, but they will all play well together.

I had a feeling it was a bit light handed. Maybe need to pick up some more centennial to beef it up.

I have not yet used El Dorado. But this should make a nice brew. Mosaic is nice featured more by itself to me.
    You might want to try:
    Warrior 60
    Centennial 20
    Mosaic 7
    Mosaic flameout
    Mosaic dryhop

Wishing I had more Mosaic to use in this one. Looks like I'm just gonna wing it with what I got. Picked up some more hops.
    I'm thinkin:
    1.5oz (maybe 1.75) El Dorado (60min)
    2oz Centennial (30min)
    1oz Mosaic (20min)
    1oz Centennial (7min)
    1oz Mosaic (7min)

1oz El Dorado DH (5 days)
1oz El Dorado DH (3 days)

    sound ok?

I would keep your Warrior at 60 min. Pretty much a waste to use the El Dorado for bittering purposes. I would use that 1.5 oz in your dry hop doses. I personally like more late hops at either flameout or just before. You have a decent amount of hops to work with. You just have to move your hop schedule around a little and they can be more effective for flavor and aroma contributions. I would use the Mosaic for Aroma only because I'm a sucker for that hop. If it was me, I would do the following:

    1.0 oz Warrior at 60
    3.0 oz Centennial at FO
1.5 oz El Dorado at FO

If you are bottling then do your dry hopping in the primary only. No need to transfer.
1 oz El Dorado + 1 oz Mosaic DH (Primary after Day 3 of fermentation)
1 oz El Dorado + 1 oz Mosaic DH (Primary after Day 7)

So I may be better off keeping the hops together in the recipe (i.e. 3oz Centennial for flavoring + 2oz Mosaic late for aroma) rather than muddling them together for both additions?

I actually do like the idea of Mosaic and ED flame out and dry hop. I have a good feeling!

Nothing wrong at all with trying those 2 combined. I just really like the aroma or mosaic hops and would put all 2 oz there and get my flavor from your others. Good luck!

Successfully brewed and the little yeasties are feasting away in the carboy. The combination of the Mosaic and ED ended up smelling a whole lot like tropical apples and pears, a bit more sweet than expected! I'll see how it smells once it settles in a week, may cut back a tad on the ED for dry hop so it doesn't end up TOO candy-like.

    Thanks for the help fellas!
