Hey Guys, I am wanting to go to the El Gordo event in Birmingham this year December 9 2017. Finding information has been proven to be challenging at lest for me. Since I still consider myself a newbie. Do guys have any advice for attending the event? Will there be special tickets you have to buy? What time should I arrive in order to get a bottle? Thanks in advance for your help!
You probably cannot find much due to it being so far out ant its not super highly sought after. I had friends last year that showed up at opening and were fine
FYI: Time Change 9am this year. From Good People Brewing Facebook page: Hey Gordo fans! We're so excited that El Gordo Day is only about a month away. We have decided to begin selling bottles at 9:00 am this year. Learning from the crowd last year, we will be setting up a separate line for bottle-only purchases that will not come through the taproom. The line will start on our side patio and take you through the back of the brewery (near our QC lab and grain). You will exit through the garage doors on 2nd Ave with bottles in tow. There will be signage all around the brewery to help guide you. The taproom will be open at this time, too. You will be able to purchase beers to enjoy while in line from our draft trailer, a beer station close to our QC lab, and the taproom. We hope y'all stick around to enjoy plenty of El Gordo and other specialties in the taproom after you're done buying bottles. We will also have Cantina on Wheels at the brewery beginning at 9:00 am. They'll be serving breakfast burritos! The Hot Tag will be here for lunch. We're looking forward to having everyone back for The Rematch! Please let us know if anyone has any questions about this day. We'll continue to release more information soon!
I am planning on going this year. Should I plan on getting in line prior to 9am for a BA version? How big will this thing be?
This is what the Brewery said to be on FB, when I asked if I arrived at 8am Good People Brewing Company “The legal limit for the state of Alabama is 288oz per person per day. So, that equals out to 11 bottles per person as the max to take home. We can't make any promises, but there should be bottles available for you to take home if you leave that early.” Also here the price list Hey y'all! Here's what you've been waiting for. We've got the full bottle and price list that will be available to purchase on El Gordo Day right here: 2014 El Gordo 22oz bombers-$25 2015 El Gordo 750mL-$25 2016 El Gordo 750mL-$25 2016 Barrel Aged El Gordo 750mL-$30 2016 Olé Mole El Gordo 750mL-$25 2017 El Gordo 750mL-$20 2017 Barrel Aged El Gordo 750mL-$25 2017 Olé Mole El Gordo 750mL-$20 2017 Fatso 750mL-$20 ¡Viva El Gordo!
Looking for a bottle of regular/BA version, willing to trade bourbon county or FB Morning Wood. Live around the Mobile area, let me know if anyone is interested in that trade.
I'd also be interested in trading, for a bottle of regular and BA, but I'm far away in Indiana. If anyone is willing to pick up extra bottles, given the generous limits, feel free to check my Gots and FT lists or request any other Great Lakes standards. I'd be very grateful; cheers!
I arrived around 8:55. Probably around~150 in line. They had a few tables lined up where you just grap what you wanted. Went pretty quickly. The Mole won the day. It was as spicy as some of the old school Mexican Cakes. Glad I grabbed 2 bottles. Reg Gordo is awesome. BA needs some time but is still better than any wide distro ba stout you will find. I enjoyed it and will definitely try and make the trip next year.
