Very solid brewery indeed but they could actually trim a few similar ipas off their taplist

Brut AFipa is the champagne of the brut beers I’ve had so far. The worst? A Brut Le Monde. Maybe it was the 10%? It also had a funk aroma on pour. Glad I made the Brut AFipa release.

Looks like they jumping on the haze train as well, after so much talk about keeping it WC they finally broke. Im excited for this. Cant wait to see how their haze comes out. Looks like State Brewing is going to be showing them the ropes. Never had anything from STATE but I hear good things.

ESB just sent an email about online sales for BA Standard Crude. $10 for presage or $99 for a case. Same as last year if I’m not mistaken, good deal! It’s some years are better than others. I remember thinking 2015 was excellent. 2016 was awful, 2017 a little better. Excited for this year so i pre-ordered some.
Come to find out I just got an email that they forgot to put the bottle size. It’s not 22oz bombers like last year, it’s 375ml bottles. So pretty much double the price from last year.
I’m going to say 2 things: first, their BA standard crude, even if it wasn’t very good, was still a good bargain at $10 a bomber. Now it’s one of the priceier options.
Second thing; I think Horus and 3 Chiefs is rubbing off on ESB. Not a good thing.
    Edit:
Just to clarify I canceled my order after I received the email saying the bottle size is almost cut in half. Nope!

Agree with your thoughts on last year's BA crude. I bought a case of each BA offering last year. They were each split 3 ways, thankfully for me, because the Crude and Cru were only so-so at best. Jetty was great, though.

I welcome the move to 375ml for a BA offering--for all breweries, not just ESBC (#no375ml). $10 a bottle isn't outrageous by any stretch, either (that's the online price; $11 in person). That said, this year I'm just getting one bottle for now to see if it's improved. Fingers crossed.

Side note: Anyone remember Bourbon & Bliss? Their coffee version of BA Crude? I wish they'd do it again.

It's not an outrageous price per se, it's just that compared to last year's price, it's definitely higher. It's outside the range of inflation, so it looks really bad and discourages one from buying them.

I just got home from ESB. Eli gave me an early sample of BA Standard Crude and Old Jetty. Old Jetty is tasting just as good, if not better than batch 1 in 2016. I’m very excited for it. He said first or second week fo December. All of their barrel aged beers will be in 375ml from here on out.

Where are the can's man? Bombers and bottles are pretty much over the hill and far away. Dig most of ESBC's IPA's but the bomber $$$'s are getting old. At least follow Smog and put em out in 6pks man.

Those are fine and dandy...but I was talking about more of their core or monthly releases. Instead of the monthly Day 1 bottle releases lets get with the times and can these bad boy's and put em out in 4 packs. Or 6pk bottles instead of old school bombers. I'd buy more ESBC ipas (clear west coast) from ElSeg if they did this. Maybe some of the haziness will go away inside my fridge. Surfin' Bird and Power Shower are both excellent. But at $10 a bomber? Come On Man! I'd pay $15-17 for a 4pk(16oz) or 6pk(12oz). I have 6pk Mayberry in a 2 month rotation.:angry:

No mention of crude? I mean DDB endorsed errr hyped errr promoted errr likes it, so therefore it's a great beer? Amirite?

I’m honestly not a fan. But a lot of barrel character. It tastes like a plain old stout, nothing special. 2015 was great. And Old jetty is consistently phenomenal including this coming batch. Whatever they do with the barrels on that they should do with crude.
