the old tasting room was kind of sad to me. i get what you're saying, but man, the new one is such an improvement. sunlight. openness. it's 1000 times more of an enjoyable place to have a few beers

Whoa, new tasting room? That's good news, I'd like to stop in soon. I liked the coziness of the old one but just for a couple of pints. Never seem to want to spend any significant time there.

and the people who are saying the pizza place next door is legit on the internet are nuts

A much lamer version of it already exists in the "Yelpers love us!" sticker that gets put up in restaurant windows

Picked up Pine Tar at Whole Foods Playa Vista today, with today's bottled date.

Nice job ESBC on getting your beer on shelves on day 1.

I like it better when they have tomorrow's bottle date...

I know ESBC does same day bottling and drives beer all around So Cal for day one releases but what's to stop a less reputable brewery from putting a future date on a bottle to make up for the few days or weeks when the beer is working its way through distro? Would it be illegal?

Its just my opinion, but if you can' t point to a "less reputable" brewery that is actually doing this, then this type of speculation is not helpful.

Fair enough. No one to point at, just wondering if there are regulations in place to prevent it.

A couple somewhat tangential questions about visiting ESBC:
    1) Is it safe to assume they're cool with bringing food in?
    2) Any recommendations for good takeout within a few blocks? It looks like The Original Rinaldi's a couple blocks away is a pretty good deli and Andiamo Pizza a couple doors down has good reviews. Any other good options I should be aware of?

    1) Yes
    2) There's a Hawaiian BBQ place down the street that's pretty decent?

Sausal is great, but a bit pricey. Also felt kind of strange there since it has a "nicer" vibe and I was rolling in disheveled after an afternoon of beer drinking. The sweet corn elote was one of my favorite things there.

I think I remember somebody also mentioning a BBQ place that was supposed to be really good. I was looking forward to trying that the next time I stopped in at ESBC.

My favorite spot in that area is Havana Mania, right across the street. Miami Cuban with fries <3
