Malt bomb sounds good to me. I'll have to pick up a 4-pack and try it out.
Though I will say I had one of the 750s last year and thought it was real good.

Yea, but even as a homebrewer I check the % of acids to know what you're brewing with. Some hop varieties can vary 4% just in 'seasonal' changes and can drastically change a recipe if you don't check it before brewing, I can't imagine this being an oversight in commercial brewing though. I'm curious what 'issue' with this year's hop crop would impact the beer that couldn't be compensated in the recipe formulation.

For frame of reference I brewed a saison today and the variation in my Styrian Golding this year meant my hop alpha acids were at 1.4% which is about as low as I've ever seen this hop, normally in the higher 4-5% AA range. Hence, I had to compensate my hop amounts by nearly 100% to get the same IBU's. Again, this should be second nature though for a commercial brewer, and sounds like Elevation already knew about it. So I'm a little amiss as to what other issues could cause this.

    Hey Everyone,

We Just wanted to thank everybody for their honest feedback on 7437. Look for some small adjustments in the beer and the malt levels to drop a tad. Our advice is if you weren't happy with this batch of 7437 wait a few weeks and try it again.

As far as AA go Prospero, that was not the issue. We think people often forget that AA are not the only compound that affects the overall flavor profile of hoppy beers, it is perceived bitterness and flavor in the end that really matters, as opposed to actual IBUs, This is a great example, as the IBUs on this batch were the same as last years, and yet it tasted maltier. This was more of a hop/malt flavor profile issue and just the adjustments that come with not brewing a beer in almost a year. We are still really happy with the last batch, but we are always striving to brew better beer, and love being part of a community that isn't afraid to voice their opinions. Keep on drinking and thinking critically about beer, and we would love to hear all your thoughts on the next few batches.

    Cheers.

    The Elevation Team

You were still happy with the last batch brewed is a generic response. Of course you have to say you didn't put out a terrible product. Which you did. I would have been more impressed if you said we screwed up and have listened to what our patrons are saying and will make it right. How this beer made it out to the public is alarming. I have not seen 1 person come on this thread saying this beer is even kind of decent. It's unanimous across the board.

Great to hear from you and thanks for the reply! I know I have lots to learn, just speculating from the little I know... I look forward to trying it again!

I agree -- what is so great about Elevation's response? We all remember the 750's which were great. This is terrible. No one cares about the chemistry or IBUs or brewer's defense of the beer. It's bad. Get your recipe dialed in or nobody will buy this again. Simple. You're not going to coax us into buying anything "weeks from now." This batch is f'd. Own it. Fix it. Let the reviews and boards rebound (we're very forgiving drunks) - and we'll come back.

Just tried it this weekend. Not a malt bomb IMO and still pretty decent, but not as good as everyone is describing at the top of the thread.
