Picking up for Barclay and thought four horseman was solid. But holy shit did Ellison drop the ball on trying to accommodate the extra influx of people coming. Might be good to pause on brewery tours and open up more of the brewery (roped off of course) for people. Also no communication really between Barclay and Ellison on how you try beers on tap, but I get it for such a small team.

Did you go to the Barclay area in the barrel room? All of the Ellison beers were available to pour from the bottle for free. Barclay had 3 of his beers on draft back there and was giving out samples of all of them. What communication issues did you have? Everything went smooth as silk for me and the folks I was there with

To add to this I believe Ellison did a great job pivoting because I was there at open when they had a Square for Ellison bottles in the Barclay area but it didn't work. They had a period where they were only taking cash while trying to figure it out but ultimately had Barclay members line up in the Ellison Mug Club line which worked out fine

Yep I had no problem going over from the Barclay area to the Ellison Mug Club line to get bottles. Super easy

I also had the Mosaic Evolution on tap Saturday. This batch is, IMO, as good as any NEIPA out there. Huge citrus aroma and taste. Soft mouthfeel with low bitterness.

Yes, I was able to grab a few pours. Im not saying the pick-up for bottles was confusing or hard, but this event was purely for the craft beer stout lovers of the world, which I am, but not the three friends the came on the trip. Not really a fun environment to drink in a garage with 30 sweaty dudes that smell like complete ass.

I stopped by around 2:45pm to pick up my preordered bottles & it was packed solid in the clubhouse. Pickup was breeze though. Went back at 8pm for a couple pours & it was pretty chill. I though everything tasted great on tap.

I actually think I should have gotten more of the canned BA stouts. The coconut version is a pretty fantastic beer.

$12.50 per can. Ouch. Their BA stouts are among the best I've ever had but $50 for a four pack? I got to draw the line somewhere.

One of the original founders left and now makes fantastic kombucha and coffee. No clue who's brewing though. Beer has gone downhill since the split in my opinion.

Eric Elliot is one of the cofounders, he is the one that left to make kombucha, coffee, and tea. Here is a story from the local newspaper: https://www.lansingstatejournal.com...-tea-kombucha-reputation-beverage/1504331001/

I thought the other cofounder, Aaron Hanson, was the primary brewer. Last I knew he was still with the brewery. I haven't noticed a change in the beer quality, if anything it is better and at worst simply more consistent, IMO. The beers from their 4 Hoarseman release last winter were outstanding. I didn't buy any bottles due to the price, but the samples I had on draft were great. $12.50 per can for the Gravity series seems pretty high. I thought they started at $8 a few years ago and then went to $10. They have always been great though. I put 6 of them in my cart last week. The total was $79.5 with tax. That just didn't seem right and I did not complete the purchase.

Cheaper than regular BCS and half the price of a variant for almost the same size. But I hear ya. It went up a few bucks from last year.

I think the price compared to other BA stouts is actually pretty reasonable. Instead of thinking of a 4pk of cans for $50, think of it as 4 500 ml bottles (which is like 16.9 oz) for $50. Almost every adjuncted BA stout at that size is above $20, including bottle logic, transient, BCBS variants. Additionally, $0.78/oz would be $17 for a 22oz bottle, which is cheaper than essentially every BA stout at that size. Hell even some of the Revolution deep woods 4pks, which are generally considered reasonably priced, will be $0.73-$0.83/oz this year ($35-40 4pk of 12oz cans).

Not to mention the quality of the barrels being used. And that it’s no where near the quantity produced as BCS for example. Smaller batch with Weller/BT barrels and still cheaper than GI is pretty awesome to me. But it was definitely more palatable at $10 a can last year.

    . Good points.
I don’t see BCBS variants so it’s hard to compare to that. Oddsides just started their sale of BA adjunct stouts for $22-24 per 4-pack. KBS is $16-18. They are releasing a new variant in the spring that will probably be in the $25 range. BA Expo (I know not an adjunct) a little more than that but less than $.60/oz.

In the end I’ll probably pick up a few cans.
