IMO...there appeared to be a very strong push for membership to get the Gravity release cans with the multiple emails, cut-off deadlines, etc. I caved to the pressure and signed up last year for this purpose and it wasn't necessary at all. Availability was no problem even months later. So this year they changed their pricing structure...$10 for members, $12.50 for non-members. This pretty much forces you to renew if you buy volume and do the math, so I did and essentially lost a month of last year's membership since it expired after the on-line release but before the pick-up began. However member pricing was only valid for the member only pre-release. In general I'm not a fan of needing to be a member of a brewery to have access to beer releases. It just feels like a cash grab. That's the direction many are going anymore. So with this one they get you for the extra money either way; pay for a membership or pay more for the cans.

I know the membership provides pretty good discounts on regular can purchases, growler fills, and pints at the brewery. I do not frequent any brewery enough to justify the cost. Their methods must be relatively effective and I guess its too hard to argue with the price increase when posted on social media that they 'sold out'. I wonder if this years sell out will be like last years sell out. The cans were available again at the Four Horsemen release in January and sold out. They then had more available at least twice later in the spring.

Don't forget about the Black Friday release also.

If it's your local place for regular visits then it makes sense to be a member, but that's an entirely different reason. I have a membership at my local and they don't even do any special releases (or really have any "special" beers).

Ellison doesn't use barrels from their own bourbons and whiskeys to age the stouts? What do they do with their barrels?

Yup. Really tame and low key when I was there at noon. The Parallex (PB stout) was awesome.

Yep, same experience here as Ckoz had. I was there a little before 11 and left about 12:30. I still think Attraction is my favorite. Saturday wasn't my original pickup day, but they are pretty flexible on that.

Attraction is my favorite as well. I didn't preorder so they only had Gravity Shift and 6 cans of Attraction available for sale to the public so I took those last 6 cans.

fwiw, I didn't care for the peanut butter one. But I've never had a peanut or peanut butter stout yet that I liked. It just doesn't work for me.
