Where the hell is all of this $5 Pliny? I've seen plenty of 6, 7 and 8 dollar Pliny.

$17 in California? That's crazy. I pay $14 a sixer for it in New York, and it's the most expensive beer I buy on a semi regular basis.

I paid 60 for a four pack of Black Note. That is embarrassing!

I think Sculpin was one of the best smelling beers I had ever had at the time. It was ridiculously expensive at first, but now it has leveled off around here, I think I saw it recently for like $13 a sixer of bottles. That isn't that bad really!

I had somebody that was selling it for that. I really wanted to try it and couldn't talk them down. I had some tax money and thought, "aw what the hell." And the worst part about it, I didn't even like it.

Thanks for the kind words! If you're paying more than $12 for a six pack though, you should shop somewhere else (don't tell them I told you that!). We kill ourselves to sell it at a price that should hit $11.99 retail, so I hate hearing about it being higher.

Places in athens like to upcharge a bit. Down where my parents live in cumming its around 12. Phenomenal beer, would pay more for it. Kinda filled a spot that was needed in georgia in my opinion. There are some good local dipas usually rotating , both on tap and in bottles/cans, but there was not a great goto one until transmigration.

However getting it on tap is always gonna be my preferred option

I bought a 6 pack of Enjoy by the other day for $15.99 and it did seem weird even though if I see it at Costco for $5.49 for a 22 it feels like I'm getting a great deal. The mind is a weird thing. I've been drinking Sculpin for so long I really never even buy it anymore. There are better IPA's down here in San Diego. Still a solid very good beer though. Just think of it in relation to buying 4 Pliny's. You get 4 more ounces and pay 2 dollars less. Plus in San diego Sculpin is 15 a six pack and Pliny is usually between 6 and 7

Unless you only have $6 on you?

I'll buy a six pack of Rainier or Olympia on purpose from time to time. I'm so sorry.

I am so envious of all of you. I recently paid $20 for a bottle of Sculpin in New Zealand. Much better range of US beers there than London.

Out of curiosity, what was the bottle on date? Or best buy date. Not sure how ballast point does their bottled on dates as ive only had the stuff on draft.

It made it's way to Wisconsin last month and is sold for I think 15.99 a six. I took the hit once, and, maybe what I had wasn't fresh, but I don't think I'd pay that much for it again. Definitley did not seem worth the price.

Unfortunately I don't remember as I had this back in January. It tasted pretty fresh however. I am unsure of shipping timescales from US to NZ but like the US beers in London there can be huge disparities in age. Sometimes positive (like the 2012 BCBS I had in a bar in London recently) less so with the IPA's. Keep sending them though.....

I like Sculpin but regularly pass because of the price point. In Ohio its $16 a six pack most places. Hard to justify when Two Hearted and White Rajah are $11 a six and when I'm lucky enough to pass through Columbus can get CBC IPA for $9.

No, I'm not paying $17 for a 6 of Sculpin; there are always local options that are good and half the price.

Sculpin is $15-$17 around here too; I bought one sixer to check it out and haven't bought one since. It's a very good IPA... in a SEA of very good IPAs, the majority of which are $8-12 a sixer. More power to you if you love Sculpin and buy the shit out of it, but I just can't see how that's justifiable.

I don't want to get into pros and cons of Sculpin as a beer, per ounce pricing logic, etc, I just want to post to completely sympathize with being completely irrational about beer spending.
