damn. there wasn't a thread for these guys yet?

i think they have had some stellar releases lately but the new smoothie is something else. picked up a single 4-pack of the blackberry, mango this morning its awesome. drinks way too easy for a 9.4%, the flavors really work together. delicious. will most likely be going back to grab another. they just released a peach, orange, cranberry too.

The Bistro raspberry/blackberry crumble was delicious. Love the hints of brown sugar in the series.

The peach crumble they released a month or so ago was absolutely amazing. Raspberry crumble and this past Saturdays mango/blackberry were pretty tasty as well. Agree that the near-10% was very well hidden.

I want to preface this by saying I am in NO WAY making an accusation....but this is exactly what people were saying about 450 slushies for months and months.

I skipped this week’s releases due to fridge space, $ on beer lately, and the ABV. I enjoy their 8% beers but I actually prefer them at around 6% so that I can open one any time/any day. Glad to hear it’s good though

I drank two of the peach crumble beers (pretty quick too) and didn't feel any effects of alcohol

The bistro series has been fantastic, IMO. The only one I've had that was slightly disappointing was blueberry pancakes. Was still good, but thought it was too fruit forward and needed better balancing.

There's basically 0% chance these are 9% alcohol, but I'm sure you knew that

Why would breweries go out of their way to lie about the abv? Or is there something about this beee style that makes it hard to calculate the abv correctly? I don’t drink these “slushy” style beers, but can’t imagine that the % alcohol is a big selling point.

The higher abv means breweries are charging more per 4 pack. So it definitely matters if it’s true or not

Energy City has gone out of their way to insist that their ABV is correct. I saw them respond to someone raising questions on social media describing exactly how they calculated the ABV. They said the 9.4% beer was supposed to be 10%, but they didn't quite reach the ABV on the initial brewing that they wanted (like 13.5% instead of 14%), so they re-labeled. They are certainly making it sound like they have their "stuff" together.

So the beer is 9.4% but then what happens when they add ounces of fruit juice?

The beer is 13.5%, then they add the fruit juice. EDIT: According to them.

Head brewer was a Chemical Engineer in a former life. I sure as hell hope they arent lieing about the ABV's.

The peach crumble was never stated to be 10% or even close. The most recent two they dropped(mango/blackberry & peach/orange/cranberry) are the only ones they’ve said are 9.4%

Peach crumble was "8%" but I really fucking doubt it

Dans a smart dude. You can trust the abvs. Don’t doubt Energy City because 450 North sucks.
