Burnside from Foundation. You'll probably have to drive into Maine to get it but, if you go all the way up to the brewery, you can have it on tap there, too!

Amherst Brewing had cans of Massatucky Brown when I was there a few weeks ago. Can't say I was particularly impressed but, then, I'm not a big fan of the style to start with and a lot of other reviewers liked it.

    And then there's always Redhook.

I don't know if it's consider English but Brooklyn Brown Ale is an excellent beer.

Well, maybe, with a lot of sorting and sifting.

I mean, simply sorted by number of reviews, Newcastle comes up first with an average rating of 3.3 which might not be bad, but isn't exactly an enthusiastic endorsement, either.

Okay, if you click on the column header for Avg, you get this re-sorted list:

Appreciate all the recommendations - will be busy the next few weeks sorting through the suggestions and tracking down those to try. Best John

I enjoy Ska Buster Nut Brown and Avery Ellie's Brown Ale. Not highly rated on BA (as brown ales tend not to be) but solid examples of the style.

My favorite EBA is The Brown Note by Against The Grain. A lot of people are turned off by the label artistry, but it really is a nice representation of the class. It has a light hop nudge, but it's not HOPPED like ABA's. With only 5% abv, it's sessionable.

My favorite ABA (in case you want to venture into it) is Bell's Best Brown Ale. A wonderful ABA if there ever was one, and also in the low abv range (5.6%). The only problem with the Bell's.. its seasonal (not sure how Bell's dropped the ball on this standout), and only comes around in the fall.
