I really haven't had one that I enjoy. Brooklyn's used to be something I drank, but it just didn't do it for me anymore. I like Goose Island's offering but only in bottles and if fresh. I haven't tried Jaipur. Perhaps I don't like the flavor profiles with this style?

Can't say as I prefer them since there are example of each style high on my shopping list. But I agree that a well done English style IPA can be a thing of beauty and joy.

Please guys. Save up your beer $ and take a trip to the UK. There is so much to offer over there, that easily surpasses the likes of SS IPA.

More on topic. English IPAs on cask are a completely different animal than the bottled version. Sometimes we get imported casks from the UK here in NYC, but the journey and lack of handling skills often mean they're not up to par. Having said that, I only ever tried it once, but Greenport Harbor (out on LI) brewed an English IPA that I had on cask at Bierkraft a couple of years ago. Was fantastic.

For some reason, it seems to be a problem on this site that all new domestically (USA) produced English IPAs get added as American IPAs. I do not know why it bothers me so much, but it does.

I kind of agree. I don't like them better than American IPAs, but of the English versions the best I've had is probably Great Lakes Commodore Perry.

While the ones from the UK are awesome, our distribution for them is pretty hit & miss so I don't buy them very often.
As a result my favorites are brewed locally:
Bull & Bush Man Beer & Hogshead Cook's Lane would be mine.

The only English IPA I've had in recent memory that I enjoyed was 400 Pound Monkey from Left Hand. I thought that one was pretty damn good.

I don’t prefer English style IPAs over American style IPAs but I do enjoy drinking them from time to time.

My favorite UK brewed English style IPA is Meantime IPA. My favorite US brewed English style IPA is Southampton Burton IPA.

    Cheers!

I don't prefer them either but don't mind drinking them.

I just had Gatecrasher (by Temperance in Evanston, IL)not too long ago and thought it hit the spot perfectly

Are we talking English IPAs or English style IPAs? I like English styles that have that mallty balance but I also like English IPAs that are quite bitter.

Worthington's White Shield is a favorite of mine. Goose Island's is supposedly an English IPA that I feel is quite underrated as an IPA in general, but I find it very much American.
