Maybe I'm late to the party but it seems we are getting very fresh Enjoy By ##/02/15 sometime early February. Unsure how widespread this will be but I am about to buy a bunch (fucking expensive) from BeerCartel. Any other notable stockists?

"Air-freighted from the US two days after bottling. Beer will be enjoy by end of February."

I'd definitely go with Slowbeer if you're planning on buying in bulk as they are invariably the cheapest.

As I don't have a set date for availability from anyone I took the plunge with BeerCartel, not buying multiple cases so not too fussed (though it is almost Westy 8/12 pricing-per-unit).

Supply might be more limited than I thought as it doesn't seem to be widely advertised or easy-to-find.

Yeah I'm not sure how much is coming in but it could be a mad scramble/clusterfuck a la Cantillon shipments.

Depending on how much you're after it could be worth emailing a few different stores in advance.

$40...really? I wouldn't buy it at that price

Wouldn't be surprised if BeerCartel is massively gouging for it though as that's their MO. Make sure they send it ASAP when they get it in also, you don't want that sitting around unfridged in their store in a Sydney summer when you're paying a premium to get it fresh

The price is ludicrous I agree. As long as it arrives fresh and fast I'll be content. My insides only hurt a little if I don't think about it.

Is it being refrigerated on the aeroplane and every other step of the way?

If not, what is the point?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it won't be refrigerated. I'm pretty much buying bottles of urine.

I get really confused that a clean brewery cannot let their beer get warm for a few days ... yes treat it like milk, but ...

Good that Stone is putting effort into the market though, we will be a happy hunting ground for them if they persist. Look forward to the day in just over 10 weeks when i am sitting in their beer garden enjoying lunch with a Ruination in hand ... hope the family enjoys the tour ...

Was under the impression this was a grey market type-deal. If Stone is involved then I'd hope that greatly increases the chance of refrigeration, at least for the plane.

They shouldn't bother exporting fresh-only beers like that. Find it hard to believe it will be at its best.

    Interesting question:

Is a 2 week old non-refrigerated beer in better, worse or similar condition to a month old refrigerated beer?

err...arguably all of Stone's beers are "fresh only", they have possibly the most restrictive best before dates of any brewer (3 months for their IPAs)

There is no way that air freighted Enjoy By will not arrive in as close to perfect condition as possible, as long as it is not fucked around with in the process (e.g. sitting in hot warehouses for months for stupid reasons as we've seen with other imports). If you don't snap it up the moment it gets into the country then Caveat Emptor

Better than some interstate brewers' beers taking 6 months to get to Sydney regardless...ridiculous

To be fair, there's nothing uniquely "fresh-only" about Enjoy By as opposed to any other heavily dry hopped IPA. You may as well say there's no point drinking IPAs anywhere other than straight from the source.

    Oh wait..

Looks like there's been a change of plan. Shipment is expected arrive late this week/early next week.

Was told door-to-door cold refrigeration is too cost prohibitive, likely at least some of the journey will be climate-controlled.
