Enlightened Despot Day (March 7th)

    Lickinghole Creek has announced their Bourbon Barrel RIS, Enlightened Despot, will be released March 7th at their brewery.

    2,500 bottles of Despot produced. Currently limit is set at 1 case per.

    Variants this year:
    Vanilla (500 bottles; 2 bottle limit)
    Coffee (500 bottles; 2 bottle limit)

    Who's planning to attend?

    I will be there. This is the best beer produced in VA imo, and one of my favorite beers from anywhere.

    Making the trip down from NYC (ex-Virginian, it's my home!) and can't wait. Was thinking about putting up a thread about maybe doing a share at the farm on that day. My brother is coming up and we're planning on doing one between us, he bringing JK Aurelean Lure and me brining a Vanilla Rye. Thinking about opening it up a little if folks are interested.

    you can't open them/bottleshare at LCCB, ABC laws (Hardywood nearly got busted for people trying to bottleshare in line for a release)

    Ah, thanks for the heads-up, good to know. I guess selling bottles and allowing them to be opened probably have different laws, so thanks for the info, don't want to get LCCB in any sort of hot water. Cheers.

    I'm dying to try Despot (and the variants sound great)!

    If anyone is interested in splitting a case, I can pay in advance for my portion, send a shipping label to get it to me in Charleston, and will send you a few bottles for your trouble.

    What do you all think the crowd/line will be like? Its hard to imagine hoardes of people making the trek out to that farm, but this is a really popular beer.

    I didn't attend last year, but in speaking with one of the brewers recently my understanding was they sold out of bottles on that day. Definitely their most popular event crowd-wise.

    My guess is if you plan to show up during the first few hours next saturday, you should be able to land some regular ED. If you are looking to land the variants, you may have to show up 90 - 120 min early imo.

    ISO all 3 variants. (prefer to get all 3 in one shot, if possible) I have Upland sours in my possession and should have this year's Gratitude and BA Gratitude on the 14th. Also, can do an in person trade the weekend of April 11th as I will be in Middleburg, VA for my sister's wedding.

    Anyone know what the prices will be?

    Just found out today I'll have to miss the release. If anyone is up for an IP trade sometime before the 12th I'd like to get all 3. Looking for a few of the regular and just 1 of each variant. PM me if you're interested. I have both in market and out of market beers and am a Horizon Society member at Three Brothers.

    Daylight Cravings sold out yesterday.
