No! The fact that you would need to ask that is proof of the insanity in the scene.

I would be mad if he didn't at least offer me more beer or a discount. I mean, full price for half a beer doesn't make sense.

I was given a free beer when the keg kicked. It was 3/4 full. I tipped extra.

In the OP post I would have walked away or paid half to try that beer. I also would have talked to the bar manager about the server if I did not get 1/2 a beer for 1/2 price. That's bullshit service and really sketchy.

    Enjoy

You aren't entitled to anything in life but they got some balls to try and charge you full price for a half product? Does anyone seriously do this?

I can't remember a time it wasn't a free pour, for me or others. (seems like if the menu has the volume listed, that wouldn't be legal).

Entitled to a free beer, no. If they do charge you for it, they shouldn't charge you for a full pour though. Every time this has happened to me, it's been on the house. Which is nice...

Most bartenders will just give that beer to you when the keg has kicked, and in turn he gets a nice tip from me.

You get what was poured before it was kicked as a consolation. In lieu of you not getting the beer you wanted, a taste of whatever replaced it is what I've seen.

It seems most people are ignoring the Vanilla Rye component to this question. With that said, entitled is a strong word. No one is entitled to the last pull from a bud light keg, much less vanilla rye.

The question is: would you pay full price for the last pull of a vanilla rye if it was only half full?

I probably would, but I'd be upset. More so at myself than the bar.

    Half pour = half price...

That said, there was a tapping of Surly Darkness and Anniversary a few years ago, and I was late to the party. So happened that the keg kicked as I was ordering, and the bar tender basically had to milk the last few drops from the lines to get me a half pour of each - he offered a discount, but I happily paid and tipped very well since he wasn't a dick and went to the trouble of getting me a taste. God knows how he did it (I think he ran a something, CO2 I guess through the lines to push through the last few ounces) but the man deserved a $10 tip just for his trouble,

    Context is everything...

    No.

If it kicks half glass slide that to you for free, and order a different beer after that.

Every time that has happened to me I've been given the 1/2 pour for free. I would never pay for it but would understand if the bartender dump it instead.

Often the little lady and I for some reason end up blowing the keg. Since we are regulars we either get it for the amount filled (which is fair) or on rare occasions given it in a glass to split between ourselves and enjoy, but no, there is no entitlement....friendship and mutual admiration with the staff, yes, but nothing is free nor would I ever ask. They have to make a living too.

It depends really on who is pouring.

"Entitled" is a dirty word around here. But any self respecting bar would not charge for half of a pour of ass end of the keg.

Just for the partial glass (assuming it is less than half a pour). I'm not sure I would say "entitled" but perhaps another way of saying it is should not be charged full price for a partial pour.

This is a policy at The Ale and The Witch in St. Petersburg, FL which I thought was pretty cool.

I would have paid...then I probably would have gotten up and said GFY with a big smile, never to return to said bar.
