I have seen only one bartender do that & asked why it was done. His response was that it was a house rule. If true its a BAD & non customer friendly house rule. If you give me those few ounces it is not going to terminate my beer drinking for that occasion but it does piss me off when you drain pour it.

I think it's good beer etiquette to give the pour for free. It's a house policy for many. How many beers does a bar waste because they insist on pouring to the top of the glass?

In my opinion 90 percent of bars would be better off if they served bigger pint glasses that actually held a pint, than filling to the top, spilling and wasting product. That extra pour because they keg blew is of no loss to the house, if they already practice good tap and glass procedures, but lot's do not.

It's expected to lose beer on a keg, its written in basic service manuals on bar maintenance. But for me using those stupid 14 ounce pint glasses and splashing beer over the top so a customer get's a full pour is as neglectful as giving the beer away for free.
