This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a new iteration of our ongoing collaboration with @threechiefsbeer: Players 2, The Return To Players (11.0 % ABV). $18 per bottle, limit 4 bottles per person. Limit subject to change.
Players 2, The Return To Players (P2) is an American Imperial Stout brewed with Roasted Hazelnuts, @mostracoffee Ghost Bear espresso blend, Madagascar vanilla beans, and Fiji cacao nibs.
P2 pours jet black with a beautiful tan head showcasing our first use of roasted hazelnuts at a rate of more than 20 lb/bbl which melds beautifully with the coffee beans to form a decadent hazelnut espresso. The vanilla and cocoa compliment the olfactory experience to give a sensation of after dinner Ferrero Rocher with expresso. The creamy flavor is a medley of the same with nutty espresso leading the way and the hazelnut balances out the sweetness of this giant stout to leave you ready for the next sip. No lactose was harmed in the making of this beer.
P2 has a thick viscosity and we recommend you drink it near room temperature to get the most out of these adjuncts and their respective interplay as the dynamics of the relative adjunct strength shift as the beer warms and time lengthens. Drink Fresh!

We are happy to introduce a new collaboration with @the8thstatebrewing Super Fractal Phoenix Set (10.5 % ABV TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
When Cameron was up from South Carolina we knew we would be making a big imperial Black and White Cookie stout (a few more weeks on that). While we were talking recipes over some Fractal pours, we had the crazy idea to scale Fractal up 3x to create a crazy smooth crushable TIPA and SFPS was born!
The Phoenix set consists of values such that an arbitrarily small change can cause drastic changes in the sequence of iterated function values (duh) resulting in beautiful shapes and lots of spirals. Keeping with our fractal tradition, we started off with a super simple grain bill of 2row and our specific fractal fermentation profile. We used a big Citra and Idaho 7 whirlpool with some of our favorite hops in the dry hop: Citra, Sabro, Strata, and Galaxy. Super Fractal Phoenix Set pours an opaque yellow tangerine and has a big citrus nose. The flavors are a unique blend of tropical fruits, citrus, “our melon thing”, passionfruit, and an underlying dankness. This beer is extremely aromatic, crushable and smooth with an EXTREME #EQjuice profile that might just leave you seeing beautiful shapes and spirals.

We are releasing Shaved Kangaroo (10.25 % ABV TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
When we started making beer in 2009, we kept a list of names that we found funny. Top among those names, Shaved Kangaroo, has not become a beer until now for two reasons: 1) we were too embarrassed that we found it funny; and 2) the scarcity of Pacific Hops from Australia and New Zealand: Galaxy and Nelson. We have come to terms with our limited sense of humor and our hop suppliers and are pleased to bring you Shaved Kangaroo – with tasting notes of “Smooth and Hoppy”.
During this beer’s life cycle from malted barley sugars, water, hops, and yeast to beer, 10’s of millions of acres have burned across Australia in the one of the country’s worst fire seasons on record. We will use this release to call attention to these unfortunate events happening there in an effort to help raise money for relief efforts. We will be raffling off some good prizes at this Saturday’s release with 100% of the proceeds being donated to firefighting efforts in Australia.
Shaved Kangaroo starts off with a 2-row, oat malt, flaked oat, and torrefied wheat base and a whirlpool of Strata and Citra. The dry hop is exclusively loaded with some of our favorite pacific hops: Nelson and Galaxy. Shaved Kangaroo pours a vivid yellow orange with a crazy tropical dank aroma. It’s a super “smooth and hoppy” flavor explosion of tropical citrus, pineapple, clementine, gummy fruit snack candy, and red starburst. This beer is sweet and tropical with notes of white grape on the end with a big down under #EQjuice finish that will put a hoppy smile on your face and have you hopping around in no time!

We will be selling cans of Straight Outta Middletown (10.00% ABV TIPA). $22 per 4-pk, 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
We are proud to be a part of the resurgence happening in downtown Middletown. More and more businesses are choosing Middletown as home and we are pumped to have so many new neighbors. To help continue breaking in our new space on South Street and to commemorate all of the awesome things happening here, we wanted to bring back, Straight Outta Middletown. SOM is dHop2s big brother. dHop2 is a DIPA that investigates the interplay between our ale strain and an intensive Mosaic and Citra forward hop bill woven four times into its creative process. It pours a very murky tangerine color, releasing notes of orange juice (with pulp) and earthy grass. The taste is highly resinous, dank-citrus, pine juice, with a chewy mouth feel and a firm and pointed bitterness along with our signature EQ Juice finish.

Man, every single beer they’re releasing is 10% ABV or higher! That seems a bit excessive.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I generally prefer their higher ABV stuff. Their yeast is cool and all, but in their lower-mid range stuff it comes across with a real tartness that can be enjoyable, but isn't always what I'm looking for. But when that gets balanced out by amped up malt/grain/hops, it almost always works fantastically for me.

Agree. Nobody is putting out better TIPAs right now than EQ and honestly it isn't even close. I tried all three (plus the Mortalis collab they still had) and they all blew me away. Barely a hint of alcohol, yet so smooth and flavorful.

With that said, there is no way I can do triples on a regular basis, which is the only downfall.

This Saturday 01/25, starting at 11:30am at 2 South Street, we are extremely proud to bring you Barrel Aged Reverse Migration (12 % ABV Imperial Stout) made with our friends from @3sonsbrewingco . $22 per 500ml bottle. Limit 1 Bottle PP. Limit subject to change to zero.
We took Reverse Migration, our first pastry stout made with Bolivian cacoa, toasted coconut, and a touch of coffee from our friends at @boontoncoffee roasters and let it sit in ONE select Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel for almost one year to the day to achieve some incredible results. BARM pours dark and viscous releasing potent cocoa and coconut aromas with a touch of roasted coffee. Upon your first sip you’ll get tremendous deep chocolate flavors sprinkled with coconut flakes with a light note of coffee before the beautiful kiss of the bourbon barrel finish sneaks up with caramel notes on the already decadent finish.

Cliff notes: This beer is a Mounds bar sprinkled with coffee and caramel.
No lactose was harmed in this beers creation.

When is EQ going to start filling more than 1 barrel of beer?

For the love of god when are we collectively going to start doing better than Mounds or Almond Joy as the only possible descriptors for stouts with coconut?

    How about "liquid" mounds?

Also I know BA likes to joke about the EQ brisket, but their new spot looks amazing and I personally can't wait until they start serving food. It looks like it's coming very soon.

They already have started, but the beers they are releasing now that are barrel aged were part of their initial batch. They also needed more space, which they have with their new facility open.

I'm not sure about now, but they used to hold back some cans from the release for locals during the following week I believe.

Over the last quarter or so, I've found that some bottles/cans carryover into the next week or two. This page is actually pretty reliable, even when the update lags.

They still do this. It used to be Wednesday, but it got moved up to Monday now that they're open 7 days a week.

Like @Darwensi posted, the beermenus is usually up to date. They always seem to have MC2 and Photon, at the very least.

I spoke to Pete at the Players 2 release and he said the plan is always have either MC2 and Photon available to go so I would work under that assumption moving forward.

Yep, best triples out there. It's amazing how well they can hide the booze while keeping it as fruitful as they do.
