Equilibrium Brewery (2020)

It was just underwhelming in every aspect. Mouthfeel is thin, aroma is decent and the taste was muddled. I’ve had plenty of EQ beers before that I loved but recently it has fallen flat.

There are plenty of fantastic IPAs being produced in NY at the 6.5% range that don’t feel muted. Just had a can of Folksbier Recurring Dreams 37 which is 6.5% and it’s one of the best damn beers I’ve had in months.

I’ve had session IPAs with more flavor/better mouthfeel than Wavelength.

 

If you need high ABV to get flavor and mouthfeel in an IPA, something is off. Not a knock on EQ at all, I think they extract all they can out of any hops they use

Green City is 7% and is, dare I say, the best IPA Other Half makes?

Low bitterness, all juiciness. All their IPAs have that profile imo. Obvious they utilize dry hopping to the fullest extent. It’s like the 0 IBU series from Veil

 

I hear you, different tastes for everyone. Being in NH I don't have access to all the NY beers but always enjoy trying as many as I can on my trips to Yankee Stadium, which sadly won't happen this year...

 

Yes, OH is probably my favorite brewery at this point, and I stop there at least once (and more if possible) every trip into the city. I wish they would start shipping to NH as well, though my bank account would probably be empty!

 

Just ordered 2 cases yesterday for me and a few friends to PA. I got a confirmation email but no shipment date or info. Typically how long is the shipping process for EQ?

 

Unless something has changed recently (could certainly be the case) I am sure they are not able to ship outside of New York state.

How long did your shipping end up taking? I ordered in PA a couple days ago and didn't get any tracking information either.

 

Referring to the fact that their stouts have been selling out in less than a minute

 

There are regular complaints on the FB group from locals that they're not able to get any bottles because "people using bots" on eventbrite.

 

Had the same issues. I reached out to [email protected] a with pictures and they refunded my entire case

 

Just cracked open a Straight Out of the Lab and I'm having the same issue now.

 

So this rotting melon flavor/aroma is a common thing with EQ? This Flucuation I’m drinking is disgusting. This is what I’d call an off flavor and is caused by dying yeast not by some super cool new science based brewing innovation.

 

As of recently, yes. There’s a lot of complaints in the EQ FB group about their quality nosediving.
