Join us and our friends from Equilibrium Brewery at The Beer Garden, 43 Woodcleft Ave, Freeport, NY…Saturday, September 1st for their first ever Long Island Can release. We’re doing things a little differently than you might be used to…

Starting at 11am, The Beer Garden will be open for business and make available free numbered tickets for all who seek them…avoiding the need to stand in a long line. At 2pm we will call numbers and you came come up and purchase your cans. In the meantime, enjoy the Beer Garden…great beer, great food and pleasant surroundings down on Freeport’s Nautical Mile...

    Draft Available for the Release...
    • Fluctuation
    • Fractal El Dorado/Citra
    • Hop Wave 14
    • dHop14
    • Special Relativity

    Equilibrium Can Offerings:
    Fluctuation
    Double IPA (8.1% ABV)
Fluctuation is aromatic and juicy. It pours a very hazy tangerine color, releasing intense tropical aromatics of passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and lychee with an undercurrent of sorbet and cream. This Fluctuation tastes highly juicy, resinous, and tropical with an assertive yet soft bitterness. We consider Fluctuation to be perfectly unbalanced.

    MC²
    Double IPA (8% ABV)
MC² is Photon’s big brother. We literally took Photon’s hopping rate and squared it. This DIPA is our tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. It pours a hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. MC² tastes like succulent mango juice loaded with chewy hop resins.

    HopWave 14
    Double IPA (8.5%)
Hop Wave 14 is a suped-up version of dHop14 with a touch of lactose. The aroma and flavor are more intense with touch of vanilla sweetness and extra smoothness from the lactose. Our experiments are currently on high as we continue to refine and understand what happened at the large scale and we expect amazing beers to come as we further dial this in.

    Fractal El Dorado + Citra
    IPA (6.8% ABV)
A fractal is something simple at the core yet can produce wonderful and amazingly complex results. The fractal series will have only pale malt and simple hops. We use these beers to investigate how different hops manifest through our processes, allowing us to optimize both our use of hops and our hopping techniques. Fractal El Dorado + Citra pours a resinous-hazy-straw yellow releasing complex aromas of orange juice and pineapple. The taste is similar and reminiscent of pineapple and citrus blended with tropical fruits. The medley of characteristics makes the name “Fractal El Dorado + Citra” warranted indeed.

This would probably be better off in the Equilibrium thread, no?

At first I got really stoked, only 10 mins from me! Then I saw the release starts at 2pm...in the middle of the Saturday during Labor Day. Traffic + nautical mile shitshow = not wasting my mid Saturday waiting for a beer release.

Exactly. I know the 11-2 is a little early for the Nautical Mile crowd but it’s still the last weekend of Summer and you have exactly one street to get in and out of there. Plus, if you grab a ticket at 11, you’re hanging out until 2, without cans, getting shitfaced. Then, when cans start getting sold, you’re telling me there won’t be a rush to procure cans in a timely matter? No way.

Case counts would help to assess level of potential shitshow here. I never been to this place, but hopefully they have been paying attention over the last couple of years on how to do a successful release and avoid customer frustration.

I know the owner. They’re going to have a separate AARP section for the release if that’s what you’re getting at

Exactly what I was thinking. I’d have to drive there by 11, wait 3 hours for a release (and not get hammered in the mean time) and then deal with traffic? I dont know how well Equilibrium knows this area but this has the makings of a horrible release.

Not to mention, I don’t know of many places on the Nautical Mile that are open at 11am. So you sit around for a hour before anything opens?

I have plans starting at 1pm on Saturday. I can imagine many other beer lovers do as well, seeing as its LBW. Why not just do it early so everyone can go enjoy their Saturday? The last thing I want to do is wait around for 3 hours on a Saturday after working all week.

Anybody there who can report on availability? Thinking of stopping there on the way back from Brooklyn. I’ll overpay for stuff we can’t get without wasting a whole day.

Just got here. No wait. Got cans of HopWave 14 and fractal. Pours of fluctuation and special relativity. Painless. Glad I popped in.

Were the other cans sold out or did you just pass on them? Just curious how quick things sold

Others were sold out. Got there around 4:30 and there were only four cases or so left, total. Roughly two cases of each of the two beers. Fluctuation on tap kicked about five minutes after I got there, too.
