Heading here to visit family from August 4 to 7. Planning to hit Lavery, Voodoo, Erie Ale Works, and possibly the Brewerie at Union Station for breweries/brewpubs, and U Pick 6 Tap House and Jekyll & Hyde’s for bars/gastropubs. Will also be spending the Friday at Southern Tier before heading into town on Saturday. Is there anything not mentioned here that's worth visiting? Also, any recommendations for sights/sounds/tourist attractions? Your help is greatly appreciated.
presque isle is pretty cool for the sunset. I went to college in Erie in early 2000's and had no idea there were all these breweries now. It was a great college town when I was there but must be even better now.
I would hit Sprague Farm on the way to Voodoo. You may want to put Blue Canoe on your radar. It had a fire a couple years back and has been rebuilt, but I haven't been to the new place yet.
I'm thinking he means he's going to the Voodoo location in Erie itself, but those are good ideas as well. You definitely have a nice little three stop agenda. I always hit Voodoo and Lavery when visiting my parents in Erie. I've been to EAW a few times and the beer isn't up to the level as Voodoo or Lavery, but the guys are really friendly and passionate about what they do. Try to hit up Sara's on Presque Isle for a hot dog and some ice cream.
My goof. Didn't know about the Erie location. Sprague Farm is still worth a go, only about 30 miles south.
Thanks folks. Sounds like we have the right spots in mind for beer. Will be sure to check out Presque Isle and Sara's. Cheers!
It sounds like you got your calendar full there. Maybe next time you go you could hit up Erie Brewing, or was that mentioned?
