Quite often when I click the "View this thread" link in an email about a new thread in a forum, the link doesn't work and I get an error message that says "The requested thread could not be found." This happens across three devices: cell, PC, and laptop. Anyone else experience this? What's up with this? Not a question of not being logged in. What gives?!

What's the origin of the email with the link? The sender of the email sounds to me like the problem source.

Perhaps it's what @PapaGoose03 is saying, i.e., the sender didn't enter or copy the link properly, or two, the link was valid but the original poster or the hosting site deleted the post for whatever reason or moved or merged to a different thread.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The origin is BA! Emails notifying you of a new thread if you have that set up in your profile.

Unrelated question: I don't understand how the quote function works in threads. You select the text you want to quote, then click the Quote button, then what? Pasting into your reply doesn't seem to do anything. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

Does the thread exist? Example: If it's a trading thread, and the OP opts to delete their thread, clicking any links to it will fail.
If you using the "+Quote" feature, click "Insert Quotes..." when you're done.

No, you got it right. After you highlight some text, the "+Quote" option that appears allows you to choose to quote that text plus multiple other posts or sections of text from from various posts for which you also highlight, you choose "+Quote." The Reply option is for use when you want to reply to one highlighted text selection.

Once you have selected text on your clipboard, you can go to the create dialog box at the bottom to Reply to the single text selection (it appears there automatically), or you click on the "Quote these selections" at which time a window opens with your multiple selections and asks you if you want to quote these selections. Reply Yes and they then appear in the create dialog box. Place your cursor under each one for a different reply to each, or place your cursor at the bottom of the last one if each selected text is to receive the same reply.

Now that you mention it, the two most recent examples refer to posts that I do not see. Here are the thread names along with the OPs:

Since 1040, & not to be found. (posted by Stoutmaster9)

Searching for beers On BA has gotten more difficult on here (posted by @Beerbom)

So are posts like these being deleted before I receive the email and try to follow the link?

I both cases, you opted to receive an email when a new thread is created in BeerAdvocate Talk.
Thread was removed: the user was misspelling the name.
    Thread was merged.

System is working as designed. Closing this one down now.
