They explained their reasoning though. People buy it because it's the cheap craft beer and is usually the only one sold at sporting events, not because of how highly regarded it is (or used to be).

Lion stout :astonished: It's not even that great when fresh.

Not a bad list, for a list. But like most lists, the entries are entirely subjective. But in this case, at least the author states that it was assembled from personal observations. But another reason for some of the beers on the list being forgotten - they're near impossible to pronounce so if you don't know exactly what you're looking for [as in having an empty with you] it could be a little scary to go into a store and ask, lest you be ridiculed for mispronounciation.

Obviously not written by a Beer Advocate devote. Most of those are some of my favorites for the style.

If you live in Northern Ky there are quite a few places that carry most on the list, Party Source, Party Town, DEPS, ect. I for years have traveled to NKY to get a large mainstay of my favs.

    Cheers

This is a great list. Having had 7 out of these 10 I can confidently say that all of these beers are fantastic. I've also seen the other 3 in any craft beer shop that I've been to. I'd have Curieux attached to me via IV if it wasn't so damn expensive for a bomber. Rodenbach remains one of the best deals on a 750mL of world class, imported beer to this day.

It's Esquire, how much do they know about beer and/or who are their clientele? They are probably looking to reach people who aren't as familiar as we are about the subject. I do agree throwing in SNPA was absurd though. And I am glad they are mentioning Lion Stout because that stuff is good and affordable.

Well it is Esquire, so... but I've had 6/10 this past month alone. Including the Lion Stout, which is underrated, and it just makes you feel good that you're drinking a beer from Sri Lanka.

This article was in my mind in the bottle shop yesterday, so I picked up a bottle of Cuvée Van De Keizer Blauw.
Plenty more dusty bottles on the shelf in case I want it later.
