Gonna be in Eugene for a few days next week and would like to pick up as much NW flavor as I can haul. Hope to day trip to Bend but doesn't look very likely at this point. Any bottle shops or other stores I should check out in Eugene? I recall Market of Choice being decent (and pricey?) last time up there. ...Thx for any advice!
If you like darker styles..pick up 750s of Plough Monday's beers...their stouts, porters and brown ales are really good and at a economical price
For what it's worth... https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...summer-fall-2016-edition.436456/#post-4942535 I realize it's winter now, and not fall, but most of the information on this page is fairly current. Have fun.
Knew there was something I forgot to mention when I posted above. Dan from Oakshire mentions in the earlier thread that they're planning on moving Oakshire day to mid May. The brewery site now contains what I assume is the official release event day for Oakshire VII. May 6, 2017.
You are correct. Hellshire VII is May 6th, return of the Experience night is May 5th. Invites going out early next week and should have a pretty good brewery list by the end of the month. Planning online ticket sales around then as well. The invite list is pretty insane. Let's just hope then can make it. Cheers, Dan
Just wanted to thank everyone for the recs. Had a great time [eyeroll] watching my Arizona Wildcats get absolutely annihilated (I mean, like, EPICALLY) at Matt Knight Arena and then drank quite a bit of good beer. Claim 52 was pretty decent, 16 Tons a cool spot, The Bier Stein is an absolute gem, and shipped plenty of good stuff back home... Didn't find any Hellshire kicking around but will hit the brewery next time I'm up there.
I mean, eventually we were just calculating Ducks' 3pt % on our iphones and watching it go from like 68... to 73... to 76... It was like playing the Warriors. Great arena, regardless. Bonkers atmosphere.
It's been nearly a year since last Hellshire Day, so your visit wasn't the best time to go looking for a stray bottle. Also, while both 16 tons and Bier Stein generally are well supplied with Hellshire, they're also usually the first place prospective customers go to find it. Next time you're in town, try either the brewery (I'm not sure they still have last year's version for sale - they typically hold some back to sell at future Hellshire Days - but it's at least worth giving them a call), or the MofC store on Willamette Ave. The Beergarden over on W. 6th would be another possibility as well. There are still a few places up here in PDX where you can find Hellshire, so I have to think there's probably still a few places in Eugene where it's available as well.
